  1. Marcos, I currently live in the central tablelands of NSW but lived in the northwest for many years and have spent a lot of time in western Queensland. I have had hunting and working dogs for over thirty years and have never met or even heard of a dog digger in Aus. On some of the red ridge country I have worked on it can take two men a whole day to dig a couple of strainer post holes.I would be guessing you are from futher south, Victoria??. cheers
  2. Putting dogs down holes in the full knowledge you will have to dig it out is not a popular past time in Australia. Still, a nice dog is a nice dog and I reckon this one looks a cracker!! As well as foxes we have these things, which weigh up to 40kg which live in these things I don,t know anyone who does it on purpose, but do know blokes who have lost large pighunting dogs down these holes. The holes can be tens of meters long and the pig dogs don,t have finding collars on. Although they are herbivores, the wombats will crush a dog in self defense.
  3. Wee "Jill" tuckered out enough for a few pics. She is too small for a standard ferret harness so I modified a guinea pig one. "Jill,s" opinion of Kevin Peterson!! Its been a battle getting "Jill" to not bite the whippet, she never nips me but has viewed the whippet as lunch!! Finally got em on a first name basis. cheers
  4. A pic out my front gate for Big Fishy
  5. I live about two hunded km inland of Sydney, on the inland slopes of the Great Dividing Range. It is undulating transition country between the Mountains and the vast plains to the west. We get down to -8dg celsius in winter and over 40 in summer, cheers
  6. The australian cattle dog originated from the crossing of Northumberland Blue Merle collies and the native dingo(a silent breed). They were bred as a silent driving breed for moving cattle, expert at the heel bite. Dalmation and some other breeds were infused along the way. The warrigal strain was developed in the vast Queensland outback. It is a better travelling strain (a bit more dingo and selection to type) and more heat resistant. Mine carries a dash of bull blood. They will do many jobs. My pup(12 mnths) is from a working line that will hold boar, find game and retrieve. Mine is very qui
  7. We don,t have hedge or stone fences, most of our rabbits live in warrens, a few in logs and such.. I will make sure I put some pics of the permissions up when I post my ferreting reports. We do have lots of wild blackberry in places.
  8. My locator collar will be here this week. The worst of the heat is over for this year. First frost will not be long.I got twenty new purse nets. I have thousands of acres of bunny infested permission. I,m getting itchy. Mick (the whippet) is still a baby but my warrigal bitch is ready as. My new ferrets (Jill and Monster) have a 6ft by 6ft by 8ft "court" with ladders and toys but I am giving both of them a good half hour on the lead each day for extra fitness. I gave up letting em run loose in the yard, too bloody fast!!! Should be some aussie bunny pics here soon!! Mick Monster
