  1. I wouldn't say game exactly.... at least not in the way a good bullcross or wheaton cross is but if they're brought up right with enough confidence in you and in themselves they'll have a good shot at most stuff. That's what I've found anyway. I bought a stock broken 3/8 5/8 bull x off here once..... It was game for anything sheep, cows etc. I did manage to sort it.... wasn't the dogs fault and I don't think it'd ever been out anywhere. Id love another but I've got a small child and won't take any risks (alright his mother said no) do bull crosses hurt children then? If I'd known that I wo

  3. There's some cracking pictures there. Thanks for everyones input and messages. I've given much thought and after a chat with Trevor cookland, I'm going to wait till a half cross comes up. They sound like game dogs.
  4. always the same.Mention a collie in a thread and you will have how they are shit, can't do this n that and before you know it, it's a Hancock witch-hunt... Atb with what your looking for. I need a few days off here again, iv read enough. don't take it personal, it would be very dull if everyone had the type of dog and opinions..... I haven't got a dog at the moment and I needed to find the right cross for myself.
  5. This topic wasn't for collies as I personally wouldnt want one. I think they are OK for other people to have and run. This topic is now 3/4 collie and 1/4 deerhound.
  6. It'd be great, if anyone could put some pictures up...... Even a collie cross, don't want to get dragged into the German thing as my van is a mercedes =)
  7. Its a pity that you don,t want Collie in the mix,i firmly believe the finest lurchers ever created are Deerhoundy/Collie based. you're probably right, I just dislike the collie, always found them a nuisance and trying to bite you when you weren't looking on the farms..... I don't think they are rubbish by any means
  8. I'm after a pup, I've been looking for ages and I'm struggling. I was originally set on a half cross, but can't really find anything, so looking for suggestions and any decent litters around or planned?? (not keen on collies) thanks
  9. Yeah I've had a good look around and there doesn't seem to be anything that's spot on at the moment, I've been out for at least 7 years so I don't mind if I've got to wait for next year for the right one. I've had a look at the kc ones and for £1200 I would expect it to be gutting, skinning and cooking the rabbit after catching it =)
  10. I basically want a deerhound but don't want kc crap, a half cross is a good compromise. I've been out of the game for a while, and just need something that's going to have a good nature for my boy. If it doesn't end up catching every rabbit it won't be the end of the world.
  11. Thanks, it's a half cross I'm after though. It's surprising the lack of them about. Is Dave Platts still breeding?
