Since you are asking for opinions.

I would go for a male gos, will do all and much more.this is based on what you have posted.

i would leave the pigeon alone, you will just end up spending all you time looking for your bird and I would say it would spoil the whole thing for you.

Ram your head with knowledge and have fun

  2. just having a debate with my freind he saying he doesnt think a heavy bullx could catch fox pre ban of course. single handed but i think even heavy dogs find away 2 do there job evem if they aint got the speed they make up 4 it some over way. i have firstx bitch 3 genration shes not heavy but she does it on her own. so if any 1 out there has a heavy bullx that does it on there owm please put some pics up 2 prove my freind wrong cheers lads happy huntin.

And some folk seem to forget where their 3/8 5/8 and 3/4 breds come from...off decent half x,s thats where....admittedley some half x,s shouldnt be bred from but good honest halfx,s are still out there..atb stabba

get with the post mate ......

Ok, I'll get with the post, the post says 'heavy', well lets face it, no heavy (as in weight) can catch much at all. As for first crosses, well run at the right weight and they'll do the job, week in week out.

Take the Pie dog as an example, as it's blood is so frequently mentioned in your dogs make up. The pic that has been posted on here, taken in Scotland, did that look too heavy to catch foxes, he was a genuine half cross?

Well if he 'looks' capable, then i'll tell you he was capable, run at the right weight, that pic was taken when he was with one of his two owners. The other owner blew him up like a balloon, liked him all ripped an heavy, he was still capable but not in the same numbers.

I've ran half crosses for enough years to know what they are capable of, I've also ran enough foxes to know what they are capable of too, i've also owned and ran 5/8ths and 3/4 breds, the 5/8ths I rated and the 3/4's were plenty fast enough, though I never felt they'd see a 'lifetime' of foxes and pretty soon they'd spew, mine never did but i've seen enough that have.

What i do know is that big heads don't catch foxes, fast legs do, and on good, fit half crosses, them legs are plenty fast enough, week in week out. ;)

    get with the post

mate i expect you were doing this before half the folk on here were born.

    tickled me that.

    hope all is well

  3. try balsamic vinegar.

5 parts water 1 part balsamic vinegar, use a small mixing bowl, and your other halfs flannel  ,ring it out and rub the dog down,i geuss i ring it out about 5 times.the dog will smell of vinegar for about a day but then you get no smell at all.

cleans the coat, makes it shine and makes any unwanted hoasts leave because the dont like the acidity

  4. looking to re home minature ebt £250

right then, 16mths ago my misses wanted a little lap type dog for the house.(shes board of me)anyway i thought i would get her a mini ebt i called vern which in all fairness i expected to go down like a dog shit butty, but she and the kids were over the moon.up till that is vern decided he didnt like my youngest.for some reason when she went by him he would grumble at her, since then hes been outside in the run which is not fair on him or my daughter.i am not 100% on the problem between them but i put it down to vern trying to give it the big one and thinks he is above her.i have no problem with him infact i am rather fond of him,so much so i have fannied about re homing him making little or no effort up till now.

money....its not about the money if i new someone suitable i would gladly gift them him,but at this time i dont know anyone so i am asking 250, one third of what i paid for him hopefully making sure someone would not sell him on.

    hes now 16/17mths old

    male 15"tts

stubern as a mule, although will do anythig for food

NO GOOD WITH KIDS....AND I WILL NOT LET HIM GO TO A HOME WITH KIDS, as i say never hurt a child but in my eyes the first time is to late.

    hates cats

    ok with some dogs

loves playing ball rag toy etc

needs a firm handler/owner or he will take the pi@@ out of you

work,as he was a pet seen very little, but what he has seen proved to be keen.

theres not alot else to say

you can call 07976 228619 anytime or pm and i will reply evenings

should get a pic up soon

    thanks daz

As someone else previously said,"sounds typical". I have to agree. I have kept several, many yr ago & wouldn't go back there again.

I see where your coming from, when you say you won't let him go to a home with kids, but we all know of the broken promises which new owners will fill you with............until they get the dog. Who is to say he won't get passed on again & whose kid will he (possibly) take an offence to,next time ?

Your obviously attached to the wee fella, but do you really want to pass on your problems to someone else & possibly have something come back to haunt you in the future ?

Good luck to finding a 100% suitable & permanent home for him. If not, then i would consider the only other way out.

mate,i understand what your saying.although i dont agree with it all, obviously you are entitled to your opinion.

firstly i think it a bit unfair on the breed to say its "typical"

secondly i dont see it as passing on my problems, as i have no problem with him,and should the right person come along there is no reason why they should.i do take on board what you say about people filling me with shit.

as far as the dog being pts goes.be asured if i thought thats what was required thats what would be done, but at this stage i think if i find him the right home he deserves a second chance.

    thanks daz

Daz,as i said previously, good look in your search for that suitable & permanent home.

In no way was i trying to come across as knowing you or the dog, better than yourself.

    Best wishes............

    good one,thanks for that mate

I think you're dead right DAZ! when I first started breeding my peregrines I was weighing them every few days, a guy told me that whatever the bird weighs at 30 days is roughly its flying weight! it turns out he was miles out mate...

there's alot of differnt things I suppose we all have to take into account, different falconers fly there birds to a condition that they feel the birds hunts best at, some falconers may get a bird flying at a good high weight with alot of fittness and time yet a weekend warrior would probably have to have his bird flying alot less due to its Metabolism and fitness levels being lower....

I think we'll always get these comparisons but at the end of the day we as falconers choose what we think is best for our birds on any given day, Flying weight certainly should never be throught off as static! as you know a birds condition can change through weather and whole lot of other reason...

I think after reading through the bollox I just wrote!! what I'm tring to say is the 30 days flying weight is basically a load of cock

    speak soon mate

    Jasper

    good one Tony.

i must admit i was a bit anal weighing the bird and food every day,but its good to look back at all the bollox i wrote

hope all is well speak soon.
