  1. Hi Mega Hunter, No not first. but my first .338 cal. Been shooting and reloading for both field and target shooting, both small & full-bore for many years and have several rifles / shotguns. I have had some recipe's given for the 338 but as you know everyone has their own ideas what's best. Just wanted to get a few more recipe's in from other shooters and then make some comparison. With the current price of reloading consumables and reloading a big capacity bullet it makes good economics not to end up with bullet heads and powder left on the shelf that don't work well in your rif
  2. Hi guys Just took ownership of my new TRG .338 Lapmag model 42 tactical. 1-10 twist Anyone out there recommend a good recipe for reloading. I shall be shooting targets on ranges out to 1500 yards. Cheers

They are building up stock slowly supplying all your reloading needs and rifles up to 50 BMG (yes including the Barrett 50BMG and theHeinrich Fortmeier target 50 BMG) The guys running the shop are shooters full bore shooters and certainly know what it is all about. They tell me that they intend to supply to the needs of all class of shooters, from the hunter to the target shooter, both airgun, shotgun, small bore and full-bore. clo

  5. I'm currently shooting RG 7,62 x 51 (NATO), 147 grain FMJ ammo. I've run four different BC calculators and have come up with considerable variation of the calculated BC. Can you guys give me what you think the correct BC should be for this ammo? Cheers

  9. I wanted to set up my new scope on my rifle so I was measuring distance from my house to objects afar via the Google Earth measuring tool and quite frankly I didn't believe it was accurate. So I zoomed over to the Kingsbury rifle range where I shoot often and knowing it is 600 yards from the back firing point to the butts I measured it and while doing so I spotted the 'CAT' or whatever on the path. According to the local papers and the BBC there have been several sightings of large CATS in this area. scary isn't it?
  10. Not too sure about a bin bag or dog, if you use the Google Earth ruler you will see its 2.89 yards long. Bloody big dog and even bigger binbag. if you hunt please be carefull what you aim at....lol
  11. Hi all You will need free Google Earth for this one and go to location:- 52deg 33' 31.82"N 01deg 40' 21.54W Big cat on path? We have all heard of the sightings of large black cats around the UK, well here is one sighting of something you can all make your mind about. From the direction of the shadows of the tree line and the compass rose we can see the sun is from due East and fairly high in the sky I'd say (Summer early morning) at time of photo. If you use the distance tool on Google Earth I reckon that the critter is all of 2.89 yards nose to tail! I thought at firs

  13. Hi there I think generally I was lucky to pick one up in such good condition and for a low price. But they are around and you may need to search for a while. Unfortunately Parker Hale no longer manufacture so you really do need one with plenty of service life still left in it. As far as scope mounts go, I first had to purchase some weaver type scope blocks as it was near impossible to obtain high mounts to fit the existing Parker Hale scope blocks. Got mine from Midaway UK on the web. I then used high mounts weaver type to clear the bolt when opening. I mounted a 3-9 X 50 AO scope

  16. Thanks Deker I've had an email reply from Peter lawman stating the same to phone him to arrange a visit and as you say, prices make it well worth a drop of diesel. James
  17. Hi Deker I have seen both of these suppliers on the web and I think if i'm right I have to contact them first to arrange a time to go over to purchase. I think it is a home address where they trade from? Thanks for your concer regards .308 in a 7,62 chamber. (I had also seen this site before), but I am the other way around a .308 chamber using 7,62.
  18. I'm getting a bit desperate now! Anyone out there, close to the midlands UK know a good local supply of ammo? I'm finding it difficult let alone almost frustrating trying to locate fullbore ammo. I shoot usually around 147 grain 7.62 x 51 (.308"). I am informed the problem is caused by China and it's hunger for raw metals as well as the problems i(fighting supplies of ammo) n Iraq & Afghanistan. I have found a few scrats of winchester (20 here, 20 there) 180/185 grain but at £18/£19 per 20. I don't think so. Also, just recently I've found .22 LR becoming harder to find, s
  19. Great news from the NRA Muzzle Energy Agreement Following a meeting with the MoD today the NRA is pleased to announce that there has been an agreement to raise the Muzzle Energy limit to 4500J with immediate effect. This will mean that all shooters using Target Rifles, Match Rifles and most F Class Rifles will be able to shoot as normal. Anyone using ammunition that exceeds the 4500J limit will be unable to shoot on an MoD range until new conditions have been formally agreed between the military and the NRA in mid-January 2008. Going forward the MoD has set a number of ne
  20. The barrel has now bedded down nicely and the rifle has proved to be a very accurate piece of kit hitting the 'V' bull at 500 yards. I've had one disappointment though; I fitted 'B-Square windage and elevation mounts with the high rise 5mm accessory. Not a good idea! Unable to tighten down enough to prevent recoil moving the scope. I was informed by the shop where I purchased that they were up to a 7,62 (.308). They obviously are not. I would not recommend these mounts to anyone with a rifle over (.22 LR rimfire) I emailed the manufacturer and they suggested using loctite! No sorry, loctite
  21. Hi Deker I Only shoot on the ranges out to 1000 yards, never shoot more than 150 / 200 yards in the field to ensure a clean bag. The Scopes attraction is that it has 72 MOA on the elevation and a good windage also. I've had it anyway, (it did not come expensive) and I can always use it on my BRNO Hornet .22 as that is badly in need of another scope. I am trying to talk the family into a Christmas joint pressy, a Loupold maybe...
  22. Picked the Parker Hale Safari 7.62 up last week and on examination, it has never had a shot fired out of it. The grinding mark (fleck from cylindrical grinding are still unburnished on the bolt. There are no powder burns in the breach or around the muzzle, still original gunblue. The magazine plate has not got any scuffs from bullets being loaded. When I got it back home after purchase I took it apart to give it a service and set the trigger to my liking, it still had the original packaging grease under there. It came with the original box (good condition) and a perfect condition original gun
  23. Hi there Question relating to: TASCO 3-9x50 AO Rifle Scope. Is there anyone out there who is familiar with this scope as I have a chance of aquiring one. It has 72 MOA elevation adjustment on the turret and I was hoping it would do for my .308/7.62 Parker-Hale Safari shooting out up to 1000 yards. Cheers James
  24. Hello, welcome to T H L, I'm fairly new myself
