  1. That is very true. Fishing really is one of those hobbies where it is as expensive as you want to make it. If you have some coarse gear that will do you for a fair bit of your sea fishing.
  2. Here is a short video showing how my good wife makes our homemade fishcakes. A really simple versatile recipe that can use any white fish - Pollack, whiting, cod, ling etc. We use ling and it tastes amazing. I hope you guys enjoy it.
  3. Here is a video I made fishing a local 40 acre reservoir. I was relatively new to this venue having only had a recce session previously but I knew it held potential. I show the simple methods, rigs and baits I used and caught some cracking fish. I hope you enjoy the video and that it helps.
  4. Thankyou. It’s one of those basic fundamental things that do so many people get wrong and it absolutely could save someone’s life. I’ve only ever fished Chesil once. Full 12 hour session and totally blanked apart from hermit crabs, plastic rubbish and line snags.lol
  5. That’s brilliant thankyou very much. It’s just really me and my family sharing what we love doing. It’s a fine line explaining things in enough detail that novices can get it but you aren’t teaching the experienced guys to suck eggs. Sometimes you get it right, others you don’t. It’s all a learning experience. ???
  6. There’s some fantastic fishing to be had down around here. Such a fantastic variety if you want to put the time and effort in.
  7. Cool. Which boat was it? I’m from Whitby originally. The fishing up there isn’t at its best. Years of overfishing unfortunately.
  8. Originally from the north east mate, though left around 10 years ago and moved down south.
  9. Where abouts in the south west are you like? I’m Falmouth based.
  10. That skipper wants throwing in the harbour!! What a cowboy!! Boat fishing can be amazing fun. You don’t even have to go very far. I take my 3 year old out with me all the time with no bother. But as you say things can go wrong quick. Here a recent session that was shaping up to be an insane day until things went down the pan in a blink of an eye ??
  11. Haha. Funny you should mention that. Just trailed out my homemade push net today. Going to try it on the sand next.
  12. I’d be more than happy to share what I know - as I have with many things in the past. It’s just the lads down here get really emotional about marks. There was a lad who did some vids down here and had guys go round his house and threaten him and then smash windows and slash tyres. Absolutely ludicrous I know but not what I want around my house for sure. It’s only fishing afterall.
  13. Well if you want to ask any questions just give me a shout on here or The Fishlocker fb page. If I can help I will. ???
  14. Haha. I’m glad you think so. I fully agree with you about Robson. Cannot stand to watch him. Possibly with the volume off. As for Jeremy Wade, the first couple were great, since then it’s all gotten too dramatic. I’m really glad you enjoy the videos and find them easy watching. Where about’s do you fish? There’s been many a time when I’m glad to see a dogfish on a slow night.lol.
  15. Haha. Prawning is busy stuff mate especially if you’re tailing them. I’ve got a mate who creels for them now. Much less intensive. ???
  16. I’d be plenty keen for one of them now but the only issue is locals get hellish sensitive about local marks being publicised. And hold Gilts with an almost mythical regard. I’d be lynched.haha. Well probably not but the videos always get loads of dislikes which isn’t good. I already have a couple of local trolls who kick off whenever I reveal any shore marks - even the common knowledge popular ones. ??
  17. That’s great. Thankyou. Yes I put my two penneth in with the Hookpoint guys when it’s relevant. They don’t really have anyone who does small boat fishing so they wanted to be able to add a little more to the mix. There’s some really great anglers amongst them and the stuff they produce really is fantastic - I’m also learning a lot. Yes fishing and hunting do go hand in hand don’t they. I think that often the people who enjoy hunting enjoy all aspects of the outdoors, fishing being one of them. I know I’ve been into both since I was a boy.
  18. I know a guy in the Channel Islands that uses Gaper clams for bass aswell. He says they work well. Cockles I’m not too sure, fish like giltheads will eat them but I have only ever had small whiting and coalie with them when I was younger ( Billet and Pennock as we used to call them. )
  19. Here is a little video targeting Tench on a small lake in Devon.by far the best days tinka fishing I’ve had and using the lift method. I hope this helps folks out.
  20. Here are short demos and explanations of the 3 most commonly used knots in my day to day fishing. I hope these help folks starting out.
  21. I have started to create a playlist sharing with people short videos that I hope will help the small boat owner and user. Wether you’re a new boat owner, a veteran boater or even someone just curious about owning a boat, hopefully these will be useful videos for you. I cover things like launching and retrieving on your own, useful knots to know, how to use basic electronics and what safety equipment you should have. Please have a look and let me know if you have any ideas on possible video subject that would you feel would be helpful.
  22. Ive got to say that is a fantastic post. Must have taken him ages to create. And that homemade setup for keeping the net outstretched so its was easier to work with is a brilliant idea. My late grandfather taught me as a lad. Always had a fascination and taken real joy from learning skills like this.
