I have had this one since bought new in '80s. .22 with carbine barrel. Cost £99.99, I remember the price because my budget was £100 and a retailer in AW was doing a sleight discount on them and it came with the sling swivels fitted. It has been retired for many years now but was a very capable hunting rifle with enough power and accuracy for day and night time rabbit shooting. Was only retired after a PCP was obtained about 10 years later.

I was not aware that it was a direct copy of the Anschutz but certainly influenced by the German guns. At the time PCPs were a very expensive rarity, rifles with an integral multi pump power source impractical and spring power was still king. British manufacturers were falling behind the Germans and were probably destined to go the way of our car and motorbike industry. To me the Omega was an example of a British company taking their head out their arse and taking note of the better product that their foreign competitors were producing and was a genuine attempt to compete with them. It may not have been as refined as an HW80 but was certainly an improvement on the original Webley Vulcan that it replaced.

Yes look at Anschutz 335 barrel latch etc supposed to be copied apparently while in search for rival to German stuff, great quality though ( and the Webely)

  2. Ive just sold my fenns . i use them for my pest company , they are far better than snap traps but Id had quite a few foul catches recently ( using proper sized tunnels ) . Been using black cat rat traps in lofts and they are very good and seem to over come neophobia in rats and catch fast. Theres a company now does folding cages for black cats so may be my go to trap. So far no foul catches even the ones which appear to have had a glancing blow are dead with in three feet of the black cats , they are quite well built  to . only complaint  i ve heard on one forum is if fired empty the plastic can crack  on base . I was great advocate of fenns but ive got to say the black cats seem  a very good trap  and I am going over to them

  3. Just bought this as a lock down time killer, shoots worn finish but not rusty stock needs a good sand and will stain and wax . Will get a kit  to service it with after polishing up all the internals , should make a good gun for my pest control business . Should be a good time killer!!  Paid 90 pounds which is high end but ok as this should be a pretty good gun when finished .   TR Robb does a strip down DVD for it so sorted!. Make up some stain for stock with wire wool and vingar  and got a wax kit already from another project some years ago. Supposed to be a copy of Anshutz 355  (Webleys version)  Got a 4x32 Hawk PA scope and one piece mount for it already in box of bits . Dont know calibre yet as being delivered tomorrow , hopefully flat shooting  girls calibre !!

  4. Rehomed some bumble bees for a customer who was pulling an old shed down yesterday, hope they do well in their new home , one wasp nest lined up for after lock down, lots of "wasp" call outs which turn out to be solitary bees which we dont treat, just educate

Bees in my van about to go to new home

  5. Buy a Fenn trap and make up a wire tunnel. Dig a little trench out for the fen so its level with ground ( although they will also work just placed on floor in tunnel) ,  sieve some earth over fenn ( make sure you dont fill under trap pan or it wont go off) so its hidden and sprinkle corn or similar over trap , catch very well , not had even trap shy rats avoid them . You can buy a MK 4 Fenn for around eight pounds and they really are one of the best rat traps out there , just need to be covered in a tunnel to prevent non target species getting caught . rats are neophobic so some times take a few days to get used to a trap or tunnel . Main thing is find rats food source and stop them getting it

  6. Well success!!!  third rabbit job  this winter . Down to prebait ?? probably not but caught 24 rabbits in ten days cages  plus five in fenn 6. Also got a stoat  and a rat!!!

The property is only an acre or so but surrounded by woods fields and bramble patches , most Ive ever had. Owner was happy for me to set traps out (Fenns dug in on safety) but didnt want set as guests had a dog. So ten minutes every other day and threw some carrors / apples in cages and left . After guests gone cages set , Caught young rabbit in one of the first traps I set before I had set the last, six next morning and so on. Numbers trailed off although two on last night. The stoat was a shame  although small holder nearby has chickens and so may have saved some poultry. Mr rat got a high speed lad breakfast in the morning !!

Ordered some bolt traps also. Some body grips 116 also on order .

This particular site is also going to get four nite vision shoots  last rabbits either dont like vegatables and fruit or are trap shy!!!!

  7. I have spray painted my cage traps camo green and also placed a small piece of carpet in entrance covered in dirt  so the rabbit dosen't feel the wire under its feet when going in. If it makes a difference Ill let you know, going to use carrot , sweet corn on cob and apple  after a good prebait. latest job can leave traps down so will prebait for a week

  8. I run a pest control company on Isle of Wight, I only do job work so no contracts . The non toxic baits are likely to attract rats and mice I would consider tracking powder in a box on a contract  as its less likely to attract rats or mice to site but should still indicate whats about?. No difenacoum resistance so far as i can see here . Although mice seem to eat more before expiring  than rats . Using brodifracoum on big mouse jobs . Nara blocks look a good option don't attract rats mice  but show gnawing etc??

  9. Just read this. I use cage traps for my pest control company. I have pre baited for about a week with carrots and apple slices . Both the jobs i have done so far have been areas with public access so traps down last thing at night and picked up in morning around 5am (which may not help get rabbits used to traps ). Had ten rabbits off first site  about a third of population. Two night shoots to follow with NV and air rifle. It would be perfect for snares but for dog walkers who start at 04:30 hours !! I kid you not!. About to do second site again public access but I can lock gates and rest is fenced in till traps collected each morning, been prebaiting for a week, bait going . Will use MK6 fenns in any holes which reopen after filling, in wire tunnels  set up where old rabbit fencing has holes in it and then cage traps in grass areas . First cage trapping job was odd four rabbits from eleven cage traps first night , two second night, then four in next five days. Plenty of rabbits still about , and running around cage traps, NV and rifle will polish of most of those left. Be interesting to see if fenn mk 6  do the business or not.

  10. Gun Power stealth .177

Can meet up at Portsmouth, Southampton or Lymington if sold . Gun like new still has box , very accurate and holds air fine . Has silencer and adaptor to fill . I have had the gun from new not been messed with like some and is is in good condition, well looked after , these are retailing now at 579 pounds and that's without silencer/fill adapter/scope mount raiser which are included with my gun
Cant post due to post office not liking buddy bottles
If buyer wants to arrange a courier i will send via that method
Already 50 percent off so dont want to take less

  11. Hi

Looking to purchase some humane kill rabbit traps , thinking Fenn 6 however also been looking at body grips question I know bodygrips need to be set in tunnels checked daily etc but dose "a tunnel" for legal purposes include a natural tunnel such as rabbit warren??

Fenns are a bit cheaper but body grips seem like they would be easier to store and carry?/

    Your thoughts would be appreciated

  12. Nice shooting Staffy is yours standard or "improved" ,and a pity u didnt get the hoss owner speaking french that would have been a you,ve been framed special

The guns got a V mach kit in so shoots a bit better than standard putting out around 11FTLB in .177

  13. So out with Supersport tonight to a small set of horse paddocks , set up facing along a hedge and after an hour or so got a ten meter shot and rabbit one in the bag. About to pack up an hour later and glanced behind , four rabbits feeding about ten meters from the hedge about 30 meters away. Slowly skooted round on my bum and sat on the floor, rested my elbows on top of my thighs and took a sitting shot , rabbit two rolled over with out a twitch. One rabbit sat on alert and the two others ran in. I checked my back drop , horses out the way and took third shot rabbit rolled over , kicked a couple of times and then lay still, cracking evening made all the better by seeing a horse owner take hold of a electric fence by accident Joker_PDT_20.gif
I was about a hundred meters away in my hide but could clearly hear a scream of ***** hell!!!!!

    First is rabbits I bagged

Second picture is rabbits view of hide

Third picture is simple hide set up , three poles , camo net, tripod , pellets, gun, seat

  14. Hi all been shooting for about 35 years now , shoot mainly air rifle for hunting . Rabbit are main quarry and despite PCPs making things easier ive reverted to a BSA lightening (brum made ) in 177 and its knocking the rabbits flat out to 30 meters !!!

Dont get out much these days as i am starting my own commercial pest control company (main will be rats , mice , moles , poaches and other insects ) after many years of working for the state , My coverage to include rabbits , foxes etc so a little bit of shooting may come via contracts etc. Look forward to reading posts and will be after some fenn 6's and rabbit cage traps so will keep an eye on classified !!
