  1. Cheers Jimmy, dead excited but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a bit anxious - more about the birth at home than the baby to come after.
  2. Afternoon Lads, Thought my rifle HW97 was all sorted bar a tuning kit, then over the last three weeks i'd had issues with keeping zero, 4 inch groups, pellet on pellet then dotting all over the target. I was very miffed and the rifle was occupying far too much of my headspace - frequent trips to the gun shop for alternative pellets, cleaning kit, new mounts to no avail. Turns out it was the scope. I bought a Hawke Vantage 3x9 50 AO shortly after getting the rifle and after four months of use is no longer useable, I shall be getting on to Hawke about a replacement or repair. So, one last trip
  3. High praise indeed. I've sent Tony an email and will give him a bell on Monday if I don't hear from him. Cheers lads, Guy
  4. Afternoon all, I've been wanting to order a v mach tuning kit for my HW97KT in 177 for a while now but Blackpool airguns is out of stock and don't sound sure of when they will be available. I've sent Steve Pope of Vmach a couple of emails and had no response, this has left me searching for other tuning kits that can provide similar or better performance. Has anyone got any experience of using the Vortek PG2 tuning kits? Specifically how they perform compared to V Mach? Many thanks, Guy
  5. Evening gents, Was going to do a hunting write up including pictures. I'm probably being daft but it's not clear how you upload pictures. Any tips on an android phone? Many thanks, Guy
  6. Cheers for all the advice people. Seems like it's very varied. Will suck it and see and let you know how I get on. Ta
  7. Also learnt a hell of a lot in the process and feel confident and fast in stripping and rebuilding the rifle. This forum is great.
  8. All sorted now thanks to the help on the forum, JonJons pictures allowed me to reset the trigger unit correctly and Jimmy's advice and very generous supply of lubricant has sorted it all. Many thanks everyone. Now to get her zeroed tomorrow and get back on the bunnies. Ta, Guy
  9. Sage advice I'm sure, will be joining BASC before applying.
  10. I re read my post and suppose in a nut shell am asking if it's worth applying for.243 on first ticket in West Yorkshire or whether I should just request SGC and .17hmr then request variation after some more time and potentially DSC?
  11. Hello all, I'm planning to apply for my first FAC, the coterminus with SGC included. Have searched various forums but have not found the info I'm looking for, was curious about what West Yorkshire police force are like to deal with? My North Yorkshire shooting mates all seem to think that I will be given a hard time and the that WYP are more restrictive. On my permission there are deer, foxes and rabbits, pigeons to be had. It has been certified for hunting with larger caliber centerfires. I wanted to apply for: .17hmr - vermin .243 - deer/foxes I hear a lot that it depends on your FEO,
  12. You are a star JonJon, that second picture is just the ticket. Superb. Cheers pal.
  13. Thought i'd let you know how I got on: Had an unexpected day off yesterday and so thought I'd polish the internals as you recommended, degrease and regrease. All went smoothly, and you're right they are very simple to work on. When I opened the gun up, the top of the piston seal was absolutely covered in grease, cleaned it all up and carefully regreased taking lots of care to not get any on the top of the seal. Put everything back together. Fired the rifle and it was smoking heavily and the action was not as smooth as id hoped, stripped it down again, piston seal was again absolutely covered
  14. Scrap that last question, im sold on the v Mach having done further research. I'll get one ordered once some invoices come in and report back once fitted. Cheers
  15. Nice one, thanks for the advice Big Mac. I think you've given me the confidence to look in to doing the tune myself. You reckon V Mach's are the one to go for then? Ta Guy
  16. Hello all, I've returned to air gunning in recent months and got myself a HW97KT synthetic/stainless. Tis a joy to shoot and am regularly bagging bunnies and pigeons at the 30/40 yard mark. Trouble is I keep reading about how much better these beauties perform after a tune and the poor quality modern weihrauch cut springs (she is quite twangy). I hear a lot of you guys recommend SFS and Welsh willy, but are there any reputable tuners up in Yorkshire that I could use? Alternatively how taxing is it to perform a tune yourself? Is it to be recommended for novices, albeit fairly handy ones, like m
  17. Now then, Haven't done any shooting since my late teens. Having recently got myself a HW97KT i have well and truly got the bug back. Been checking out the site for a while but felt I should become a member. Cheers everyone.
