I've fancied one for years, but when they've come round it's always been the wrong time..my pal had one and to be fair the best lamp dog I've ever seen.Knew his job down to a tee, never needed to be on a slip n was more than capable of holding his own?

I had a good young bitch a couple of years back showing all good signs she was of this type she was killed before 2 i wish I had her now would of been a good bitch 24 tts stubborn at times but once she realised we were a team she was a great bitch steady fast could take a knock loads of stamina game loads of drive

Sorry mate what cross we in about pal??

  4. Just starting training my new harris hawk to fly this coming season. She's coming on trumps, making progress everyday and can't wait to get her going. It seems im the only person round this neck of the woods flying hawks to game,so does anyone near by fancy doing abit??

  5. So after many a hour with my head buried in books and reading various articles on the net,i think im nearing the stage when im ready to try my hand at falconry.Ive been fortunate enough to find a mentor who rescues birds of prey whos more than willing to show me the ropes and lend a helping hand should anything accur,so a massive thank yous deserved there. The designs for my mews have already been sent to the woodman who's knocking it together for me,so things are coming together nicely!!!.I still have permission on 2 local farms from my lamping days, with varied terrain from wild meadow, bushy scrub,to open farm land and a small wood.Ive decided on a harris hawk, but arnt sure on male or female??The general quarry consists of pheasant, rabbit, pigeon, and general bird species covids and alike. The rabbit population tend to stay tight up against the old railway embankment and rarely venture out in the daylight hours, whereas the phesants are fair game and would offer more of a sporting chance.Ive read all sorts of conflicting information about the capabilities of the male harris hawk???so not sure what to think. My head tells me to go with my gut instinct like when buying a working pup,as personality will differ from animal to animal???Anyone shed any wisdom??

  6. Here in leeds its not unusal to see multiple kites gliding  in circles high on thermals, ive seen at 11 once. There the most common bird of prey we have round here and have colonised most woods round my way.Its not surprising really, as the reintegration program started at harewood house on the edge of Leeds,in which they released 90breeding pairs from europe.

  7. A couple of years ago i was exercising a young lurcher i had at the time in some local wood's near me in leeds.Something caught my eye and the same thing massive female harris hawk perched there 10ft up a tree, just sat there staring at me!!!..didnt batter an eyelid.

  8. Best dog I ever seen run was of a similar breeding my pal had, except he was collie whippet x bull grey.Took everything single handed.Again, was a little heavy on the turn but soon made up for lost ground.Filled out as he grew older then the antlered lot was in real trouble.Be happy if my pup turns into half the dog he was.

  9. Hi all, just acquired some new permission on some local stables.I know its abit un sportsmanly, but the landowners want it ferreting next month, but its a matter of pest control so needs doing.I'm looking to get back into the ferreting game so getting some ferrets might be a start.Ideally I'd like a full set up but any other offers would be considered please pm me if you can help, cheers
