Looks the same Seany mate hard to tell from the pic with it being dark but the size and shape is bang on looks like theres mottling on the cap or is that the pic mate if its the same sort there will have been a good size ring and in leaf litter id like a pound for everytime ive thought they were blews at first glance they smell the same and they have a lilac sporeprint like blewstalks do you know what they are mate ?

The old boys go mad for blewitts round here, the Wifes grandad got a bag from the pub the other week and looking through them he said there not all blewitts theres some morells but like you said they look nothing like them!

Im going back to the spot for some ferreting friday so what i'll do is get some more and swap a couple rabbits for a bag of blewitts off the man and compare.

Spot on pal I had a bit of time this morning so e-mailed a guy who has a mushroom website and he actually got back to me and he said exactly the same one mate well done :toast: although I think it does look more like Lepista nebularis.

I'll still check with the old dudes though

all the best mate Seany

I dont know about there distribution but i do know us midlanders are mad for them.

Ive picked them up the high peak and round peterborough and daventry as well as local its been a bumper year this year never seen as many big mushrooms in a long time.

Seany Lepista nebularis is another name for clitocybe nebularis according to what it says mate so you werent wrong atb.
