  1. Ditto, they're just passing the buck. How can they say a cartridge isn't a dud when two different weapons wouldn't fire it? Shows what they care about their companies reputation doesn't it?
  2. Hi Michelle.....welcome to the forum.
  3. Another good read is my side of the mountain by "jean Craighead George" the adventures of a young lad who sets off from New York to find his Grandfather's farm and is forced to survive in the rough. Beats Shades of Grey hands down.lol
  4. I had to laugh to myself the other day. My daughter starts at Holme Lacey college in september....she wants to become a vets assistant or if she gets qualified continue on to the royal vetinary college and become a full vet. She says to me "I don't think i could charge all these old ladies a fortune when they bring their animals in.....so therefore I don't think i'd make a good vet"! My reply was, It'll be entirely up to you how much you charge, just remember you have to make a living but if your conscience gets the better of you, then set your price accordingly....make enough to cover the
  5. If like me you enjoy the countryside/nature as well as the shooting, I'd like to recommend this new book by Chris Yates to you. I'm 5 chapters in and am finding it a fabulous read. Anybody else like to recommend any titles about adventures in the countryside? Only I don't think it will take me long to read this book.....I can't put it down at nights.lol
  6. Nice shooting and a very good write up, thanks for sharing with us.
  7. Here is the reply to my email to lyvale, Needless to say I wasn't impressed by it. Bare in mind that I also tried the Dud cartridge in my gun. Thank you for your email, I firstly must apologise you've had to write to us on a matter of product quality, you are correct in assuming a miss- fire is very rare, a true miss fire is statistically one in a million if someone experiences more than one it usally indicates either the mainspring and/or firing pin need replacing. I'm sure you won't experience any more though if you do please review and ask a gunsmith to look at the spring/firing pin
  8. I can't hit things in the air, I had a go at a local DTL put on by our syndicate once and couldn't get into a rythm. I have no problem whatsoever hitting things running on the ground but when it comes to things in the air I simply miss. I normally come through the target from behind and pull after giving a lead but still can't hit the damned things. I've shot now for 25 years and i think i must go cross eyed or something trying to follow in the air. I'd love some tuition but with a family I can never afford it.Clays and cartridges are so expensive and then there's a coach to pay for. I'll
  9. Out of interest Furittus, how comes you travelled all the way from Northern Ireland to here clay pigeon shooting? That's a fair old journey!! I see you kicked your boy off the PC by the way.lol
  10. I know him from on here but not personally. You're a bit far from me but he's a good contributor on here so I'm sure you won't need much help. Good luck in your interests.
  11. Well the trouble is at £9 odd per box it would cost me £10 in fuel to take them back because we live out in the sticks.lol
  12. Hello Polecat, It's nice to see the younguns taking an interest, I can't get my boy off the xbox (same age as yourself). Welcome to the forum!!
  13. I was watching Gordon Ramsey on youtube last night eating rook pie and it got me thinking "why is it that we don't eat these any more?" You'd think with the recession and everything people might take the chance of food that's plentiful! but then again most people won't eat things you have to clean and prepare yourself anyway so it's a daft question I spose.lol Anyway, Nice bag there well done.
  14. I would say it's down to a defective cartridge. I went out to try my Dad's new gun last night and one of his lyvale express didn't fire, the firing pin had struck the top but no bang, he asked me to try it in my gun (which i was skeptical about doing) but the results were the same, so I've emailed Lyvale now as this isn't the first one we've had dud from that box. If I were you I'd keep the Cartridge and email the makers expressing your concern as that could have left your gun with damage. The fact that you hit your target tells me that your barrel should be ok though. If you tell Winchester t
