  1. Firstly I would like to apologise to Trader as I cant seem to reply to your old Pm from Feb mate having probs still with this computer .Also to Darcy for not sorting out the work I said I would try and do, lost a lot of it but can still have ago if you like??? Secondly , no fishing in the close Valleylad! You came with me for help and direction with your barbel fishing which I gave.....................you could inadvertantly ruin a good reputation I have in barbel fishing circles mate, just want to make it clear I have no connections with close season barbel fishing.
  2. What a cracking fish mate, dont see enough off em being caught really, welldone mate wonderful specimen indeed
  3. Yeah thats right, no rules, if you look, i put "lol" as i said it, you know tongue in cheek... No probs dude
  4. Yep thats right you learn the markings of the fish and then name it to make it easier for future reference.........thats all I'm saying. No rights and wrongs ,just opinions!!
  5. It came out last year too at twenty pounds and was one of only 2 twenty pounders officaly recorded, the other was a fish called the Traveller which died last year from Adams Mill on the great Ouse. Nooooo, its a sad day when Barbel are also named the same as carp I know what your saying mate, sounds sad naming wild critters, its done really to aid in fish ID, its easier to say the "traveller" rather than say "the fish that can be found anywhere on the stretch that has a tear in its left dorsal and looks like its swallowed a rugby ball". Some of the fish where I'm at the mo are name

  7. Yep ,could be to do with the amount of anglers that have got into barbel fishing in recent years and the high quality baits that go in ,and the amounts!!!!
  8. Just checked the records list the Mole record for barbs fell this year (March) to 15lb 6 oz same fish apparently.Looks like there a few barbel in there anyway.
  9. Yep the weirs are a good starting point. You cant beat time spent walking the banks and fish spotting to start with though look for signs of faster water running into deep areas etc etc overhanging bushes, depth changes, all the usual river features. If its to deep to spot fish ,then talk to the local anglers or check out the worn swims. Try a few sessions with the chair left at home and go light weight, try as many different swims as possible..........You never just no. Pluckers son has given out some good bait ideas too mate, look at some of the pastes and boilies too.At this time of year try
  10. July the 12th !!!!! is that the next day free bruce ? fook me that thumb print gets bigger everyday No doubt I'll get an abusive txt come the morning! Speak soon mate!
