Guest MOLLY Posted June 20, 2006 Report Share Posted June 20, 2006 Ive been adopted by a failed racer. At the moment i am feeding him the wild bird seed, and the peanuts seen to be his fav. I would like to know if this feed will be ok for him, if not what should i get? Should i get the number from his leg ring and try to contact the original owner or not? Anything and everything i should know please. I would also like to persuade him to use the shed as his roost, how would i go about this....catch him and lock him in for a length of time? I can have a one way hatch cut in later. He has no fear of anything and i think it is only a matter of time before a dog or farm cat gets him. Cyril MOLL. Quote Link to post Share on other sites

This is the number to telephone. BUT the owner may not want him back if he got lost in the first place!!!! :11: Personally i woudl think of knocking up a smallish loft and keeping them for a while..... I thought that, i know the lads in the allotments near mine just neck them when someone brings them back, but i thought it would be courteous to ask if i can keep him 1st Im getting rather attatched to the little fella so i can feel part of the shed being converted very soon....anyone got any ideas how to persuade him to use it though? And he is making enquires about 2 new wives for him I think they need to be kept in for a good few months? He seems to already think this is home, stays on the yard wall all day apart from when he does that fast flying around the farm thing racing pigeons do when they are out for exercise. I contacted the owner and he is delighted and definately wants him back. Seems Cyril was his big hope He is from Lanarkshire and has flown from London, so was nearly home when he decided to visit here. He is now caught and the man will send someone to collect him asap. I asked if he would neck him, as he is more than welcome to stay here if he didnt want him and he assured me he def wants him and described how he will have to keep him in for a while in some special box etc. The way he spoke about Cyril he seems genuinely attatched to him.
