Baiting?

Hello

 

I'm looking for some advice on bait to use for a crayfish trap,I heard fish is the best for obvious reasons, but I cant get hold of any fish heads,as the local fish monger sells them all to the chinese,and the supermarkets cant give them out,so,I heard cat food is second best,will a can of sardines work? or a can of any type of fish?

I have heard that a chicken carcass is good, never actually done it but would like to this year.

catfood tins are good,punch largish holes all over the tin,lets the smell out and stops the crays eating all the bait so it lasts longer. i've used this method many a time and works well.
