PIR Lamping

Recommended Posts

Went out last night 1st time lamping. My mate made a lamp using a motorbike battery, a mini 55w spotlight, with handle - was fantastic piece of kit.

We learnt how much more relaxed rabbits are at night and they came out all around us.

I am wondering, as we have PILL BOX to snipe from :) would this work.

placing another home made lamp, but with a PIR detector on it on a path way where rabbits cross for the field, or would the rabbits not be big enough to set it off.

We will also have lamp with us.

We are also going to make a lamp with a remote-control on.off switch which we can strategecially place somewhere else.

Ideas, thoughts, criticism welcome.

Thanks

good way to start bet loads started that way.seem's like a lot of work for a few rabbits, how long are you going to stay in the field(all night)? would it be easier to lamp the area first and give it an hour or two for the rabbits to settle, anyway after a while the rabbits will get used of the lamp, once that happens you'll not get a shot they'll be gone scampering like hell. stick with it anyway :gunsmilie:

oh we will be going again and again, it was enjoyable fun and much better tht the day.

we went from 630pm to about 930 pm, was tempted to stay out longer but decided to go home and talk about the evenign over a coffee.

Working out strategic places etc.

We shall be ordering some heaving duty spotlight gels, red/orange/yellow etc which we will be using a diff colour per week.

I am hoping to upgrade my rifle soon and once i get my cabinet installed will apply for an FAC as i think an HMR will do sexily and get us some very sweet bags.

The land ha never been hunting or shot on before, so we are both very exicted.

Highlight of the evening, i nearly fell in a 12ft narrow dyke - hehe
