LAST NIGHT'S SHINE.

Good stuff tote, Jimmy looks pleased as punch as per usual :D

Some dogs take longer than others to realise whats happening with sitters, try sending him out and then give him some kind of verbal hint when hes almost on top of the bunny, I use the word "steady". My old dogs know exactly what this means, I can send them out into a field in the daytime and make them halt up when they get close to a rabbit Ive spotted clamped down using this command. Its just repetition really, just keep doing the same thing over and over until the dog realises whats expected of him. Good to see Bob coming along, its been interesting following his progress over the season ;)

We do send him down the Beam SJM, or at least try to. The trouble is he just won't go any further than say 20 yards if it's a squatter and he can't see it so Jimmy gets the job of walking Bob up to them. ;)

I've done as you've described with dogs over the years, i've seen me sending dogs a long way down the beam to squatters that they can't possibly have seen, but they knew that if I sent them there was a prize there at the other end. If they got up to the rabbit and still couldn't see it i'd shout "where is it, where is it" to them, that got the dog working in the right area and it would soon have the rabbit moving or picked up out of it's seat. Agreed it's repetition and Bob's had a season lamping and still hasn't worked it out, looks like it'll take a bit longer.

Must say that Bob's catch rate has improved big time, back at the start of the season when I was taking him out he was doing 4 out of 24 and 1 out of 11. :icon_redface: Now he's up around 70-80% which is a big improvement, let's hope he starts next season doing the same %. :)
