stick 2
hey, i posted a few months ago in a different thread asking for advice but nobody replied as it is said often on here, everyone has to start somewhere and id like to take my staffy cross jack dog out for the occasional hunt. ive had him since last may when he was 18 months old, he was beaten and cut and used as a cigarette stubber by his previous owner so he hasnt been coddled at all. he is a fiesty little one. he caught a fox in a field last summer and ragged it about a bit before he let go with my calls and the fox ran off. since then his recall has been non existent so i have been hesitant to take him out anywhere loose because i didnt think he'd come back. im now in liverpool living and he has bolted out of the house a few times and ive only managed to find him because people had been carrying him back in my direction. this is another reason i want to hunt with him as i feel it will allow him to let off some steam and be a more managable dog in town. so i have 2 questions, what is the best way to regain his recall? he is pretty bright, he learns new commands almost instantly including shittin on command, ok that took a week or so but it was easy. but for the life of me he will not come back once he starts running. and then whats the best way to introduce him to rabbiting and to earth? being just over 2 years shouldnt hinder him should it? cheers for any help Quote Link to post
