nanscamp 0
My son has done the usual 12 year old boy thing and 'found a ferret'. It was in a fishing box on the local park, obviously dumped. It is a young female. I already have a castrated male, 3 years old (his brother died 6 months ago) and I have been thinking of getting another to keep him company. I dont work them, they are pets. I would be willing to keep it if they could live together, but I only have one cage at the moment. Can anyone give me some advice on what to do here. Thank you Lyn Quote Link to post
Ron Weasley 83
If he's castrated they will be fine. Just keep an eye on them when you first introduce them and they'll be best pals very quickly. Just bear in mind that the jill will be either in, or coming into, season soon and should ideally be mated with a vasectomised hob to be brought out of season. Quote Link to post
The one 8,594
As above if your hob's castrated he wont get the urges but you will need to look at ways of bringing the jill out of season Quote Link to post
nanscamp 0
thanks for that. It looks like Ive got another ferret. Just found out it was dumped because it was a female. I dont know how some people can do that. I will book it in for a jill jab then think about spaying. The last 3 ferrets that were brought to my house had all escaped but were returned to their owners. I think the neighbours think we are pet rescue. Lyn Quote Link to post

Too late to keep them apart, my son and his friends have had them both out in the garden most of the day. They are getting on just fine. Quote Link to post
