STOP DOG THEFT

Recommended Posts

Hi all

just a a quick 1, im looking at introducing at new micro chip system with GPS, it works the same way as the old chip just that it has GPS aswel so you no where your dog is at any 1 time.

would this system be for you, and what would you be comfortable paying for this service

Sounds good to me, but what are you thinking of in terms of cost.

Normal microchip is £20, how much more would your chip be? I have know idea the cost of making the chip so wouldn't know what to expect re cost.

well last year when i was looking at doing this the chip was coming in at about $375 to $425 which was not bad at the time because of the exchange rate,

now its not looking so good because of the pound :(:(

No i wouldnt - microchips can way too easaly be removed,

you can buy scanners 10 a penny now a days,

threre have been some thefts of dogs where the chip has been removed, although some of the dogs in question

was found to be a mess, as they had just dug for the chip,

chips can over time move and if not inserted right - you can feel them,

so quite easy for someone to remove.

If i was going to get a gps system for the dogs - i would go for the one that was being brought out last year, it is on an anti theft

collar, it cant be cut and cant be removed, although it is expencive.

I think its an excellent idea :clapper: anything to make life harder for scumbag dog theives :clapper: What would that price work out at in £?

The way I see it is if you have a good dog in your kennel then you should go to any costs to protect that investment cos as soon as the dog is stolen from you, you will wish you had and no money will be able to replace the dog if its a real one :(

I see your point, but this chip don't work like the old the 1, the old chip works by moving the scanner over the dog, then blips when your over the chip giving you the place where the chip is inplanted, this is not good, also the old chip was put under the skin of the dog so could move or be removed.

THE NEW CHIP IS PUT IN BY DEEP INTERMUSCLAR SHOT, AND THE SCANNER WILL PICK THE DOG UP WITH IN A ONE FOOT RADIUS OF THE DOG.

not alot by the look of things, just give the dog a pcp tab, then get a 5"stainless steel sliting disc and away you go.
