pointer 543
I guess its unusual for pointers to go ratting but seeing as i own one he may aswell join in sometimes. The way i see it is that the alternative would be to own more terriers and have other dogs left in kennels which just seems mad.Although i go ratting fairly regularly i dont take big numbers of rats.In most situations i go ratting day or night you only need one or terriers to get into tight spots or under stuff, once rats are running about a good ratting lurcher is deadly and i think a pointer will be the same.Obviously if i was getting loads of rats id have more terriers, but then if i was doing more ratting i wouldnt find time to do as much rabbiting and bushing so would end up with underused big dogs I like the red dog too both Red and my lurcher Tess are six years old and i have little to complain about. They have both worked OK for me. pointer 543
The most important thing for me is that my dogs are out of kennels doing something.Anything is better than nothing. Quote Link to post
