irish n english setters

i wasnt sure where to put this, about 25 years ago we had an irish setter or red setter, i saw another on a park once but thats it.

i just wondered if they were ever a working dog or just show shite.

from what i remember of ours she had a good nose etc and im sure she would have made a decent gun dog.

an old long dead friend used to hunt a red setter greyhound during the ration time at the second w/war he said it was the best pot filler he ever had.
