treefella 24
took my terrier and lurcher out today for a mooch, got a couple of rabbits and my lurcher coursed a hare but once again it was about 200 yrds off and she isnt the quickest dog so she lost it. this got me thinking, i no saluki hybrids are supposed to be the best for competition coursing but has anyone ever owned or see run a proper lurcher not a longdog(sight hound x sighthound) e.g traditional collie or terrier based lurcher, be entered into a hare coursing cup like the forley cup and do well. just interested to find out. i mean in my opinion a proper working collie has loads of stamina. the farm i used to work at the collie used to follow the farmer by the side of his tractor all day and still round sheep on massive fields with huge flocks. i would class that as asmuch stamina as a saluki running flat out for 6 mins on the fens Quote Link to post
