Rimmy silencers on FAC powered air guns.

Just sat at home the other day wondering one of those strange questions. Would a rimmy silencer work better on an FAC rated airgun than an standared airgun silencer? The SAK silencer has a 1/2" unf thred I think so could be used on alot of airguns yet It Isn't as far as I'm aware. Same with a few of air rifle silencers so I was just wondering why you never seem to see a rimmy silencer on an air rifle and vice versa??

i had a rimfire silencer on my pheonix when i bought it and it was rubbish!

could only put it down to the the silencer having to deal with a lot more gas (air in this case) from the air rifle than it would from a rimfire!

the rimfire silencer is now on my mates rimfire and does a grand job of shutting it up, and ive got a silencer from the unpronounceable german compay and it great!

cheers

Weihrauch Hyp? I've just bought one and havn't tested It out proper yet, The guns on the blink.....Again :wallbash: I've heard there quite good so looking forward to trying It proper.

I thought they would be quite good Chimp but obviosly not. I was out for a night using a mates rimmy and that was near silent with what looked like the SAK mod so that's part of the reason behind the question. On these big bore airguns on youtube you never usually see a mod on the end of the barrel either. Strange I thought as they make a fair crack!

Cheers for the replies, Will stop me wondering now :D

The weihrauch works better for you beacause it is designed to take away the sound of the slower pellet and air leaving the barrel but the fac silencer has to deal with hot gasses and the higher velocites that an bullet rifle produces. dont try using the weihrauch on the fac thou, they dont cope well.

What's In your weihrach one? Looking down mine not alot. There's red plasticy shit inside at both ends and some washers In the middle

Hello mate,

You wont believe it but the inside of the weihrach silencer is just two long hair curlers and a smaller one in the middle and spaced by two washers and rapped with three pieces of felt material. and a few other makes use this same techniek, try the Parker Hale FAC rated silencer works a treat on my FAC rated rifles,

ATB,

Rob.

does anyone else rate the evolution silencer?i got one on my springer and i think it piddles all over the HW one! theres a hell of a lot more to the innards of an evo too! springs, washers, felt, drilled ally tube and O rings etc.
