Guest ROUGH COATED
I keep my dogs outside on a farm in kennels, there kennels are 4ftx4ft with a 10ft x 5ft run, fully insulated and filled with straw. Last week I looked into heat lamps, after a bit of research mainly on poultry sites I bought 3 x 250 watt heat lamps (1 for each kennel) Today I fitted them and was amazed at the amount of heat that actually comes out of them, after about half an hour I could actually put my head in the kennels and feel the heat. I normally put kennel coats on my dogs but took them off tonight because of the lamps, I want to know if anyone else uses these and there thoughts on them. Do you think I should leave there kennel coats on them, I dont pay for electric where my kennels are so I can leave them on 24/7. The only down side is it looks like a brothel with all the red lights!! LOL!! CERAMIC BULBS is they way forward!!!

mattydski 560
whats the running costs on those lads? 250 watts = 1/4 kw. In 1 hour you will burn, 1/4 kw/hours per lamp. So if you know what you pay per unit (or kw/hour) you can easily work out the cost to run per hour, per lamp. Matt
