just got into snaring and traping and orderd my self sum mk4 fen traps a want 2 trap rats a no how to set the trap up but a dont no were ?? do i just set it in the center of the barn or nare the holes ?? and do u need 2 bait the traps

as i say am new to trapin eny info would help

If you take a look at the top of this forum, there is a very good article by OTC about tunnel trapping.

 

Fenns need to be set in tunnels, and it is very important that you have some sort of roof to any tunnel as otherwise the victim will be thrown clear of the trap by it's action.

 

Baiting is not usually needed with tunnel traps, as most pests will investigate any dark tunnel without.

 

The other thing is to make sure you are using genuine traps which are approved for use in the UK. Currently, only the Solway, Springer and Fenn are approved - be careful of cheap imitations for sale on ebay and the like - their use in Britain is illegal.
