Guest Juttal
Well lad's many thank's for your comments, to be honest my son is getting a great laugh hearing of parts of my life he knew nothing about. so i will have to be careful what i say, know lad's you will have to forgive me, but i won't mention areas to which i poach, mainly because i still use them to this very day, and keepers in the area would have that little more on me, if they were read this page, i know if i was a keeper this is what i would be looking at. the keepers in my area are very determined and have zero tolerance. quiet often it can get well out of hand, as it has done, enough said. i owe alot to my father for his guiding hand and sound advice he gave me when it was needed.but one thing i could of done without was his reputation with the game keepers and anti-poaching police, he still laugh's to this day over certain issue i would even call close, all he ever say's is f**k them all. i corm from a large family were all of us, keep ferrets, terriers and luchers of one sort or another. growing up all i can remember are batterys being charged all the time in the house. there always about 3 batterys always on charge. as my brothers got old enough to acompany my father they in turn made there own lamps and acquired there on batterys, and so it continued until there was about 7-8 batterys charging under the stairs in the hall, my mother could never keep wall-paper on the wallbecause of the acid's smells from the battery. this was my up-bringing. this happened one night out lamping on an estate close to were i live i was lamping rabbits with a 3 year old dog we bred ourselfs, he was an absolute nailer four rabbits and you were always sure of a good bag with him, even well lamped rabbits stood little. now this estate was loaded with rabbits.so whenever i hit it i made sure to load the van up with them. i knew the estate very well, it's were my father use to bring us ferreting, we never did any burrows out in the field because you could be spotted by any patroling keeper. they were always ditch burrows were you could see all around you but you could conseal yourself easily, anyway back to my lamping. i had a good sack full of rabbits and my mate had a good few also, when we saw a flash light flick across a gateway. we hit the deck straight away and pulled the dog to the ground covering his eyes knowing what was coming next. and as sure as shit stinks a big lamp flashed across the field. now let me explain alot of keepers hunting poachers at night do be very clever at what they do. if they know your on the ground they will walk as close as they can to you using a small torch only, and when they think they are on top you they switch to a large lamp and collar you. their lamp flicked across the field and then turned off. i guess they tought we had moved into the next field and did not want their lamp to alert us. we got to pur feet and moved quickly to the ditch where we waited and listened. we seen the torch move across the field towards the next field. once we know what direction they were going we headed the oppostite way. one field away we start lamping again moving quickly, well my mate could carry a few more, :so why not:. we bagged another good few and tought we gave the keepers the slip. the dog was on a rabbit quite a long way out in the field, when a jeep came up the lane beside where we are. i switched the lamp off, whistled in the dog and headed for high ground were i know the could not drive too. looking back down i could see them driving around flicking thier lamp. it was time to get out. we travelled a few fields up with keeping our lamps off. one field away from a top road to which we were heading , the field right beside us was lit up with a lamp, we hit the deck after a few seconds noticed the lamp was no way near us, looking through the ditch i saw 2 lurchers running the beam, yes it was someone out lamping. now we were fairly laden down with rabbits and was keen to get them off our backs. so we brought them to the side of the road for collection. and headed off down the road towards our van. we were careful to watch all around uswhen we noticed a siloutteof a car at the side of the road on the crest of the hill. striaght away we got into the field beside us and went around the car on towards our van still a bit away.when we got to the van we were careful approaching, yes it was all clear, our hiding spot for the van was a goodun. i took my coat and boots off had a bottle of water and headed towards our rabbits. a mile up the road around the bend and low and behold we could not believe what we had seen, a FULL BLOWN POLICE CHECK POINT. we were f**ked. i rolled down the window but the copper was not to botther. amd waved me on, and as we passed him we noticed they had apick-up pulled in with 2 lurchers standing on the back and 2 lad's being question by the police and the game keepers whos jeep was in front of the police car. we quickly got to were our rabbits were, when my mate noticed a car coming around the bend we f**ked the rabbits in and got going, yes it was the police car shit; shit; shit; we pulled into a farm house thinking they would drive by they stopped right outside then the light sensor lit up the yard where we were, now we were sitting in the van and the police car outside looking in "b**lox" to this i said. then a top window in the house opened a frail voice said 'is that you john i left some scones on the table for you'. i opened my door and stooded out the police car pulled off igot into the van and took off like a bat outta hell. and then i heard sometime later that the keepers caught 2 poachers and lurchers in a joint operation with the police. they could not of have f**k all game because they only arrived as we were heading out but according to keepers they must of hid all of the game. but that's life All the Best juttal Quote Link to post
