Does sitty mean city or is it a special tree?

sitty as in pigeons have trees where they go back to roost , does anyone on here use decoys with better effect or do you just wait for em ta come back and roost , decoys pull em in on the rape fields , do they work on lofting them up in the tree,s

i use sitting decoys in a sitty tree when shooting jackdaws, these are more easy to come in to decoys than your average crow, we have used decoys for crows as well, and with good results, just find that in the start to the summer you will have more luck using decoys for crows, i have several which i put up on poles next to a sitty tree, i use my lofting poles and also some old broken fishing whips,i cable tie the lofting poles and 5 metre fishing whips to the trunk of the tree, and once you secured your decoy to the top of the pole i go into the hide, used it more for shooting with the shotguns but no doubt it would work with the airrifle if they settle in your tree long enough for a shot, i have been doing a fair bit of crow shooting myself the last few months and we have had to resort to using the airrifle for good results, crows by there hundreds on the estate where we shoot, but after taking good numbers with the shotgun, also 17hmr, and the 22 rim fire, we are now using airrifles and having better results, no matter what you have out there and we have it all, from whirlys, flapping crows, and pecking crows, the crows are to wise, one shot with the shotgun and they fly off to the next valley

mainly after the pigeons, never give it a thought about decoying in the crows, theres lots where i shoot sometimes when we pigeon decoying with the shotguns the crows come flooding in, think i will give this a try with the crow decoys , cheers mate,

lol, my misateke mate, i got those black ******** on my mind, yes mate, with pigeons will work a treat if you know of a tree they like to use, when pigeon shooting we use pigeons same method as i said with crows sat up in a tree, what we have found very good though is the decoys that are a pigeon flying, like the ones you put on a whirly, we have put these up on a pole just to catch pigeons attention, and they come in, and land in the nearest tree to where your decoy is, last summer we were using shooting pigeons and had a plastic decoy on top of a pole right in fromt of the hide, there was 2, 3 trees only 50 yards away from us and we found that using this we kept on getting pigeons perching into these tress, was goood sport as we had the 22 rim in the hide with us and kept on taking any pigeons that landed out of the tree with the rim fire, but it was the flying pigeon that made them come in to the tree

i got given two pigeon decoys and a friend of mine has a couple too. if we wanted to go decoying how do we figure out which fields are used most? we would rather not sit out all day bird watching and looking at flight paths! is there a general rule? the farmer we have permission from has such a wide expanse of useable fields we havent ventured onto most yet. so choosing may be hard. Also what time of year is best?

at this time of year the pigeons will def be on the rape and are easy to spot cause they flock together in there hundreds . a little time spent watching will pay dividends, to be honest with you rather than decoying them in the field look out for the tree,s they like to roost in , you can find these easy by the amount of shite underneath, lol . loft a few decoys up keep well hidden i,m sure you,l have more luck than decoying them to the field, ask others it can be tricky . hope this helps.

well the rule does go to watch, but like you said, can take alot of time, best bet is mate is to take a look at the land, pigeons tend to follow same paths,we usually arrive at a farm, watch for 10 minutes, and also fire a shot off with the shotgun if we not had time to work out where they going to be feeding, if you got your decoys out, and a field been cut or planted recently, try your decoys in 1 of them fields, you will most probaly find that once you had one trip, from sitting in your hide with your mate, you will notice that day where the pigeons are landing and flying frequently, then will be saying to your mate as most do, we should of set up down there, give it a go, set hide up, put decoys out, no doubt you will have a few birds land amongst your decoys, but you will also be able to watch the fields from your hide that day and give you a better idea where to go next time
