JUST BACK FROM VET

Recommended Posts

Just back from vet. Wee terrier Bitch started to whelp in my car today and after sittin at side of road for an hour decided that there was a problem. I could see a leg hanging out but she couldn't push it out. Had to take her to vet. She had a dead pup inside her which was stuck fast. Vet reckoned it had been dead for a few weeks. After removing it, there was a lot of smeely s**t came away. Vet had to cut her open and got 3 live ones but 2 lasted only 20mins. I am left with one bitch and a bill for £300. Problem is she is not interested in it so far. Wee pup is feedin ok and cuddling up to mum but she is not licking it. I'm hoping that it is just the anasthetic and that she will show interest shortly. Good start to 2009 for me eh?.

If she's still not licking it, you'll need to help it to pee and poop - new pups can't do it on their own. VERY gently, with the pup upside down, wipe from the tummy towards the rear end with a piece of damp cotton wool. Have something on your lap to absorb the results!

Well, after spending new year getting up every 2 hours to make sure that the wee pup got fed i'm tired. Ihad to make it wee after every feed. She is doing well now. Mother cuddling her and started to lick her. I have decided to call her Diamond after the price that Robin hood and his merry bunch have charged me. £300 was total vet bill, so in reality i suppose this is reasonable. Mate in Arboath told me that his friend got hit for almost a grand for a cesarian on his bitch. I'm just glad that mum is ok as she is a brilliant worker and great temperament. This will be her last litter.Iwill put pic on shortly.
