I had a quick walk round a few local fields last night with my new rifle looking for some woodies and didn't even see one  Now I know my eyes arn't the best but I went out mid afternoon and about 50 got up out of 1 tree so where do they roost? Is there a certain type of tree that they like and a certain height or will they go anywhere? over to you

i dont know about anywhere else but on my farm durin the day they tend to be here there and everywhere and roost in all the evergreen trees all year round usually the tallest it makes it real tough to distinquish woodies from ferrals though so i dont bother instead i go bunny popping

I'm saving the bunny popping till my new scope comes, Even thinking about getting a NV but not put much serious thought In to It. Will they always be In the evergreens then, Anyone know. I hope not as It will make silohetting a b*****d of a job

no woodies dont always roost in evergreen's. i have roost shot hundreds in deciduos woodland with no leaf cover at all. wild critter's are more tuned in than we are to slight temprature increases ect out of the wind on the lee side of a hill ect. your best mooching about about an hour before dark and see if you can see any bird's flighting to roost ,what direction ect. if you find a good roost you can go back year after year as the use the same spot 's year in year out . and get some good sport i shot 53 one night in a wood i shoot. good luck.. :victory:

Cheers mate and the guy who PM'd me, That's where I was looking, Trees with no leaves as I can't silouhette them on evergreens. I've still a bit of ground to cover looking about but was suprised there was non about where I looked. Anyway, going out just before dark sounds a good plan, Thanks :good:
