klarakoi 0
anyone know where i can get a barrel shortened and screw cut for a silencer? Hello mate. Why dont you do it yourself, its easy enough, you just have to recrown it after, and then put on an adapter like this,, this will cost you about a score,, lot cheaper than any gunsmith, if you need any details pm me and il explain how to do it,, all the best,, Rob, Quote Link to post
T78 4
don't really want an adapter in there though, would prefer barrel straight to silencer. the barrel is 410mm(aprox)long,what would be the best length to go to?i was thinking about 275mm(11 inch)without silencer on? If you can get a threading for £100 at a RFD that is about the rate! (usually about £120 with a cut and crown as well) Who knows if you can find a "Quality" local engineering firm, but threading needs to be done very accurately!! Quote Link to post

Hi there, Mate trust me if you cut the barrel at 10" and re crown it then put on one of these adapters it will look the nuts,, and it will save you a small fortune, like the other post said at least a oner, and you could do it yourself, here,s one of mine that started as an 17" barrel and I took it down to 11" and fitted the adapter, no lose of power or accuracy,, hope this helps,, Rob. fin and fur 2
If you are intent on shortening your guns barrel than i would be inclined to leave it to a specialist engineering firm rather than attempt the job yourself the barrel will have to be reduced concentrically in relation to the bore to a suitable diameter for the 1/2" unf thread after shortening the barrell to the length required and machining to this degree of concentricity really should only be attempted on a lathe, also when the barrel is re-crowned you will have to specify the crown angle to whoever is doing the work for you if they are unfamilar with guns and work on more general engineering projects, a crown angle of 45 degrees seems the norm these days although i dare say that others may have their prefered crown angles, you will also need to be sure that the surface finish on the crowning is smooth after machining as a rough poorly finished crown will do absolutley nothing for your rifles accuracy all the best fin and fur Quote Link to post
