magpies

[Guest air gunner]

I would like to shoot more maggies. i have seen one in my garden on one occasion and know they are aroound but how do i get one in to a safe position to shoot? what should i put out to attract them? i have found a call on rsbp site but it seems to do nothing. also what time of day are they most active? if i do have the chance i take it head shots are the killer. any help thanks.

watch them mate and u will see they follow a routine .magpies like a bloated rabbit or make a fake nest with ruber eggs. u can make a call by putin a few pellets in a tic tac box.and rattle it. and remember if its not a safe shot dont take it. may i surgest to books to you .1st one is called total airguns and the other is called air rifle hunting .these will give you abit of an idea about your quarry. hope this helps mate happy hunting

Great advice shaun I also use the tic tak box and the fake nest to lure those black and white bandits in and it works like a charm

ok well theres a dead nest in a tree near me so i place this in the tree with a fake chicken egg and then call. should work ill give it a go and give you the feed back. hope it works.

They are shrewd, cunning, careful and twitchy ..they are also almost universally hated....I have a lot of time for them simply because they are VERY GOOD at what they do, so you have to admire them at the same time!!!

 

A Larsen will help but they are very difficult to attract and keep within range, listen to what others have said as well, keep still and quiet and out of all sight, and keep your fingers crossed.......oh yes...if you do get one leave it where it is, don't rush out and get it, odds are others will turn up to find out what the f**k has happened so a chance of more

all the above also try this markout ur 30yards or so drop a dead raddit or rat split the stomach and wait youll probs attract more then just maggies remember dont brake your cover after the 1st kill the rest will still come
