Fat-Ferret 857
I just started learning to snare, I only set one this week as it was on a run at the back of my house and I could keep an eye on it....I just checked it tonight, the wire was snapped, although the peg was still in the ground, the wire was stretched out straight and broke off near the top end...What could it have been, strange that if it was strong enough to break the wire the peg didnt come free? The wire doesnt look as if its gnawed, but its not a clean break either......... Edited November 21, 2008 by Fat-Ferret Quote Link to post
donk 12
Either the snare broke because it was old or weak,or if there was a rabbit in your snare either a fox or a dog has nicked it and broken the snare in the process. Shop bought snares tend to be ok,but some are a bit naff, where did you get yours? Woodga on here makes some excellent snares for rabbits and foxes, best ive seen to be honest. Dunno if hes still doing them, but the ones ive had off him have never let me down, not that ive done much rabbit snaring myself. Are there any muddy patches round your garden?,check for fox or dog prints. If its a fox nicking them get yourself some decent snares and catch it. Good luck. Quote Link to post
