Steve tried the cheap handheld(battery all in one type) yrs ago. not much cop. floodlight rather than spot! and only about half hours worth of light. if you want a cheaper decent lamp,get a clulite. ghillies 209 Posted November 12, 2008 Report Share Posted November 12, 2008 it's a case of theres a hundred and one solutions there.. starting with a 3.6v krypton bulb with a small 2 AA celled torch dish fashoned onto a had, plug in a PP3 9v batery(the little square ones).. 20-25 yarder...the bulbs go fairly quickly but it works a treet.. 4.8v krypton, theres numerous good spot focusing torch's...with that therees a head to 'fashoned...or a halfords 'minours style lamp' if they still sell them for 7 quid..50-60 yarder..well usefull(4.8vkrypton bulb).. if your really zelous plug in a 6v battery pack.. not too hi an ampage or the 4.8's blow one a night, 4 really low omage resisters in parralel.. rig them in series on the posative wire...they last indefinatly..(less than full but ages) or go for gold with a 70 yard lamper and wap in a 7.2v nicad set...one or two bulbs a night lol but a live and dierect beam happening. 6v halogens.... it's the bulb wattage.. a dwindly 10 wat is crap unless its on a spot but 10-20 minutes on 6v 4amp lead acid.. diochroic 6v halogens, the one peice reflectoer and bulb in one..like the logan lamps, you need below 10 degree's beam.. 4 is much better, but again..forget the 6v 4am, get a 10 amp.. 12v is better... usual 55 wat bulbs are usualy enough.. but again your burning amps here, (theres a 10 million candle bulb about..sheesh it gets hot and you can literaly lamp up for near on a mile lol).. then it's into LED stuff, i always shunned from them because they are well... pathetic for lamping, 50 hour run time verses 20 yard max with very dim light... untill now that is, got hold of a fenix TK10.. 60 or 220 luminum setting, owch that is bright, i put my logan lamp away straight away against it.. superb. fits in your hand (all off it) its tiney, also fits in a 1'inch ring..pricey but worth it. failing that...for years people have used the old railway tilly type lamps, dwindley orangy yellow light on low batteries... solder iron,solder, wire and odds and sods, gaffer tapes a cure or two... the rest is what can you find. you'll find as well as filters, the brightnes or dimnes can aid a nights work... if they leg it on a bright turn it down a bit.. if they run on a dim light..or dim filtered light, you need to rest the place for a few weeks.(or get NV). ultimatly a 12v and dimmer................filters you can make or buy.. blue tack and tape you have a re-usuable filter mount that lasts ages....or re-use it for ages more.
