Ratting

Recommended Posts

Took the terrier out tonight in some of our poultry sheds, (borderxrussel). We started in a bigger shed, with a few rollaway egg boxes etc, with a fair few rats in. We let the dog off, blocked off all exits and pulled back the rollaway egg boxes, quite a few big old rats bolted but the dog was not on the ball as he hadnt been out lately, and missed the lot :wallbash: we had never done this shed before so didnt really know where the rats would go, but it worked out that they ran into the corner, up the wall, along a long ledge, and upside down over a beam. If we knew this we could have clubbed em as they ran past :wallbash: anyway, we live and learn. But just as we were about to vacate the shed, i shined the light up and there were 2 big rats sitting on the ledge, my bro got a stick, hit them both down, and the dog killed them both, so that was 2. So we went into the next shed, there were breeding hens in here and more egg boxes, this time we pulled it back, and the dog got 2 almost at the same time, one running up the wall and one going towards me at the door. then, another smaller rat ran up a beam, along a perch, and across a vertical peice of wood, my brother had a stick on him and hit it dead in one shot. we were about to go and call it a day, when the dog spotted something, legged it across the field, and got a nice big rat which was making for freedom. It only was about 1/2 hour but we were bored and fancied some fun. Thanks for reading, and happy hunting. ATB will.f11
