Lewdan 17
Hi All, Bit of info please My mate and myself have permission to shoot on two farms that boarder a common, Both farmers have grazing rights and they say its ok to shoot on this ground There are quite e few foxes on this common but we dont have much luck calling them in to our permission, is it wise to go out on to the common with lamp and rifle? is it legal with permission?? SportingShooter 0
Common ground is owned by many different people, the Commons here are almost all owned by the Duke of Beaufort. The Grazing rights and Shooting rights are two very separate entities. E.g. If you bought a piece of land, and I owned the Shooting rights, there would be nothing to stop me shooting there. Nothing you could do unless I relinquished them. Your best bet is to find out who owns the Commons via the Land Registry and get in contact with them. If the foxes on the common are causing a nuisance to the livestock on the other farms, they need to go. I have a Common bordering part of the shoot, and we happen to have the shooting rights. Foxes do travel back and forth from it, but I don't have the authority to shoot there with the rifle. If you gain permission, then you will need to contact your Firearms Dept and ask them if it has been passed and for which calibres ( as its common ground I doubt it will have been) if not then the FEO will need to come and check it. Whether or not he passes it is another thing with it probably being littered with footpaths and bridleways. SS Quote Link to post
