What was used to make the original 'fell terriers'

Just read somewhere that jack russell was used in the original make up of the old fell terriers and patterdales......would i be right in thinking that it is infact the fells and lakelands that were used to butch up the jack russells???

 

I know that border and bedlington was used in the old fell types and can still be seen quite strongly in some of todays fell types

theres a post of mine a page or 2 back. about fell terriers apparently alot of lakeland blood is used aswell as the bedlington and border.cheers

THE FELL TERRIER, IS A MELTING POT , THE ONLY FACTUAL PROOF OF ITS ANCESTRY IS PHOTOGRAPHIC, LONG BEFORE IT WAS FASHIONABLE TO WRITE BOOKS , WHO KEPT RECORDS, WHO KEPT THE TERRIERS,HUNTS ,AND LOCAL TERRIERMEN, HOW FAR BACK DO RECORDS GO, SPEAKING TO OLD FELLAS IN THE LAKES, AND LANCS YORKS BORDERS, THE SAME STORY KEEPS COMING UP , THE IRISH POTATO FAMINE , AND IRISH IMMIGRANTS, COMING TO ENGLAND TO WORK THE LAND AND MINES , THEY BROUGHT WITH THEM TERRIERS , RED AND BLACK THOUGHT TO BE THE ANCESTORS OF THE MODERN KERRY AND IRISH TERRIERS, THESE IRISH MEN HUNTED THE FOX AND THE BADGER AT HOME AND SOME BROUGHT THE TERRIERS WITH THEM , IN THE LAKES LANCS AND YORKSHIRE THEY HAD TERRIERS THE ANCESTORS THE LAKELAND,FOX , MANCHESTER AND BEDLINGTON TERRIERS, WHO WHEN AND WHERE THESE CROSSES TOOK PLACE WHO KNOWS , LOOK AT THE PHOTOS IN OLD HUNT ARCHIVES AND PAINTINGS IN AND AROUND THE FELLS AND THERE ARE TERRIES TO BE FOUND THAT MAKE THIS THEORY MORE BELIEVABLE, WERE NOT TALKING THE KERRY AND IRISH,FOX, MANCHESTER, BEDDLINGTON OF TODAY BUT THE ONE OF THE 1800S LOOK AT THE BROAD RANGE OF COLOURS AND HEADS , IN TODAYS FELLS ,

I dont think any one knows the truth behind this type, it holds and resembles many types of terrier and in return who knows if each type is true to the original line of breed, peoples greed for show trophies and the figure that goes with the modern so called workers ofspring.How ever there still remains many true dog men who keep their strains amongst themselves true to type and no mention of fees just trust,as long as they remain we genuine dog men can pass our way of life on to our new generation of workers not the show boaters that cling on to away of life you cant be part of unles its in your blood good hunting to the real dog men our fight isnt with each other only the jokers
