Does anyone hunt mink?

Recommended Posts

Yeah I just wanted to hunt them for the pelts, I don't have chickens so they're not a pest to me.

what do you think your going to do with their pelts? and where do you come from?

Ireland.

Nothing really, just decoration. I doubt I'd get enough to make them into any sort of thing!

They are a pest to our indigenous wildlife thanks to the animal rights. They need to be hunted to destruction like the grey squirrel. As JBS says perhaps pelts is your thing. Each to their own. I'm sure there wold be many prepared to sign a petition against your chosen field. Maybe you should be more sympathetic to all aspects of legitimate animal exploitation.

What?

I know they are a pest to native wildlife, another reason that I wanted to hunt them.

What do you mean "there wold be many prepared to sign a petition against your chosen field"? What do you do with your rabbit skins? I don't like to waste any part of an animal that can be used. Whats your deal?

You was the one who started asking questions, I am the one seeing why you are asking the questions.

I have hunted Mink in the past because they were very distructive to our wild fowl and water birds, they are an alien species and don't have any native preditors. They climb, swim and go to ground making them very successful as a preditor not good for our native species if you wish to hunt them for that then so be it but dont expect a good responce from members on here if your saying you want them for there fur and your not going to do any thing with the fur and in a previous topic your getting at fur farms why dont you just go to them for your collection?

What would you suggest I do with the pelts? I don't think I'd get enough to make anything. Like I said, I'm not against mink farms that gas them. I hunt to give my dog work and for meat. I like to keep the pelts. Whats the point in buying a mink pelt?

My rabbit skins are used to wipe my dog arse as it comes out of it  . This is because my dogs eat all but the guts of the rabbits I catch.

Good, my dog eats whole rabbits too.

Yeah I was thinking traps would be the best. I don't even know if there is any where I am but I know a river with otters in it so there might be mink there.

if you got otters on a river then they normally push the mink out.
