how do you stop a dog

hi all when were out lamping if my dog misses his game and it gets away then he hunts up for ages or does a couple of laps round the field and its a pain in the a*** so how do i stop him hunting up

im working on his recall and rietriving but hes a hard hunting when he is on a really fresh scent somtimes hes just deaf to commands

without meaning to sound like a smartarse you're not working hard enough on it.if you want to cure it it's back to basics away from the hunting feild until it's sorted.

electric collar will wake him up i never had to use it more than twice on a dog to fix a problem. it used to be my last resort but now its me first.

Hi I'm a big believer in training pups or young dogs to retreive dummys on the lamp before they go for rabbits, it teaches them all lamping techniques, watching, run the beam, picking sitters , so lamp dummy and send pup, whenever you knock the lamp off call the pup in, no rabbits to scare so shouting is no problem, persevere until penny drops, good luck.

hows the progress on recall ferret boy. i no its hard but keep at it. i had the same problem but hes got alot better now and he only really does it after the first run then hes fine.

I use small dog treats, when my dog cannot find a rabbit dummy i chuck for her i give her a cal and she cant resist the treats, Works for me
