Ron Weasley 83
So, my day started like this: I rolled out of bed at around 11am after a bit of a night out last night. Weather looked ok, so I thought I'd try an hours ferreting. Just as I was getting the gear together, checking batteries etc (first trip of the year), it started to rain. I decided to risk it anyway. I took my two poley jills to a bit of permission I have on a farm up the road. I had a few easy sets in mind in a wood where I always catch, but on arrival, I saw that some trees had been cut down to provide a bit more pheasant cover, and destroyed those sets. So I settled on a larger set at the edge of the wood that I've worked several times, but never caught a rabbit from. I had no plans to be out long, bit of a sore head if you get me! Spent 15 minutes setting my nets, collared my first jill and entered her, collared the second, put her in another hole and before I'd had a chance to stand upright, the first bunny hit the net! It wasn't quite half grown. No sooner had I dispatched that than a full grown doe hit a net to my right. Dealt with that, and at this point, both ferrets were above ground. That'll do, I thought! So, 10 minutes to get there, 15 minutes to set up, ferrets underground for 2 minutes, 15 minutes to pack up, and 10 minutes to get home, 2 rabbits in the bag. Carlsberg don't do ferreting trips, but if they did, they'd probably be the best ferreting trips in the world!! Edited October 4, 2008 by Ron Weasley Quote Link to post
