Ross Kemp - new book out today

Recommended Posts

This morning I got roped into driving Mrs Misty and a couple of her colleagues to Newcastle (Metro Centre, Gateshead to be precise)on a training course with her work.

As I had a couple of hours to kill, I went for a wander into Waterstones (I'm a feckin nightmare for reading books and mags) and discovers that Ross Kemps new book, Gangs 2, is out today and he's doing a book signing later on. I decided that if you don't ask, you don't get, right? So, I asks for the store manager, introduces myself as a freelance photographer and does she have anyone covering such a good PR opportunity or her? Long story short, she's chuffed at getting a photographer FOC as well as some nice pics for her company newsletter, and I've got the chance of some saleable shots (ran out of business cards for folk getting their photos taken with him!) -everybody wins. It turns out he's just back from Afghanistan shooting his next TV series. Despite what we might expect from many of todays 'personalities' he was more than happy to spend time talking to fans, many of whom were parents of soldiers serving in Iraq and Afghanistan all thanking him for the work he was doing to highlight what our boys and girls go through.

All in all a top bloke, imo. (er, obviously I had to get the obligatory photo taken too - enter stage right, Mrs Misty :gunsmilie: )
