midnight 657
i had a rat catcher king a few years back . it had some power but i have to be honest i was shit. and its better than the rat catcher im told . there is load of reasons why it was rubish but i would say just dont bother. i think you are looking at buget guns mate for the right reasons but there only ever gona be what you pay for (cheap!!!!!!!!!!) i dont like springers at all but for a few quid more you will get a realy good one brand new or second hand. whirauch . theoben. and bsa all do realy goo budget rifles that will more than drop rabbits and other vermin. they will do it with style at range and more importantly consistantly. i think i would look for a second hand whirauch 77 in 177 with a theoben gas ram syatm inside it with a 3.9x50 scope from a good manifacture . get it slinged up zeroed and get out there . in years gon by they where the favored rifle of the feild target lads and you know how acurate those guys shoot and at what ranges. i think peg and gun has one and im sure most lads will recomend them if they have been in the shooting game long enough. all the best matt Quote Link to post
Guest Woody
Yeh, always buy the best you can afford- even if it means saving for a bit longer. BSA Lightning, Weihrauch HW95, or HW77 would be a good place to start. If you look about, you might be able to pick up a second hand BSA Supersport for a few quid. Quote Link to post
Guest perlin
The ratcatcher is OK for shots up to 20yards but after that it dies a death. IMO pay a little more and get a Lightning XL, a lot better quality and nearly 4 ft/lb more power. Quote Link to post
bill88 6
A lot of pest control people use them for close range ratting, which they are great for but thats about it.Another prob is the co2 can's,the big can's will get the gun up near the 10ftlbs mark, but your looking at 5p a shot!Get yerself a good second hand springer or for a bit more dollar a pcp.A reasonable second hand springer would probably be just as cheap as a new ratty.
