Guest WILF
Just wait untill the next man in charge is on the news talking about Newcastle being a "big" club .Pity the trophy cabinet is the size of my snap tin How very true..........they are a small club with biggish support and have done absolutely feck all in 40 odd years..........dellusional is the only word I am afraid. When the NUFC fan can stop kidding themselves about things, they may start to just enjoy there football.
gnasher16 30,598
How very true..........they are a small club with biggish support and have done absolutely feck all in 40 odd years..........dellusional is the only word I am afraid. When the NUFC fan can stop kidding themselves about things, they may start to just enjoy there football. If im not mistaken Wilf your a hammers fan like myself.....and if so you will know only too well what its like to be a relatively big club who never win anything !.....personally i think newcastle are a very big club,i dont judge a club on what they win or dont win as its clear these days that peoples money wins trophies not football teams, lets face it,man city are about to become the biggest club in the country, what sense is that ! Like west ham newcastle have a massive following and very passionate supporters, they have a good history and i for one would like to see them do well as there are unfortunately very few teams left at the top with traditions and values......sadly near everything in sport now must bow to money but that still doesnt stop the genuine supporter of any club wanting the best for their side......take a look at newcastles ground for a start,id put them in the top 7 biggest clubs in the country.... Like our own curbishley kevin keegan has old school values and cannot be dictated to by no nothing idiots who simply have money......its not hard to see is it,as the buiseness men come in the real football people are pushed out, when the manager has no say in his own team the time has come to leave....curbs did and i wouldnt be surprised if keegan follows.....you cant blame the man or the club....only the idiots who are buying the clubs and destroying our national game. Guest WILF
I agree with nearly everything you say Gnasher except I dont think West Ham fans kid themselves as much about what the club should be acheiving...........seems that the NU fans seem to think they should be in the running for the champions league final when really, just staying up is what they should worry about. They would see themselves as a bigger club than the hammers when the reality is, they are not. The hammers have NEVER been a sacking club, so why the constant ins and outs at NU, the awnser is...........they think they are Real Madrid, when they are really Rochdale
droid 11
Toon have a passionate support but that counts for nowt nowadays. Money talks and they haven't got enough of it. I suspect that gate receipts are only a small part of the overall cash flow for most of the top Premiership clubs. I had the same discussions in the West Paddock 20 years ago..... gnasher16 30,598
West ham fans dont kid themself about what they should be achieving ....do you go to games wilf ? Sometimes the hatred around the ground is scarey....even when we,re winning !....the trouble is we are a selling club,we create and bring through great players and then sell them to the big boys.....90 % of regular fans know that if we could keep these players we would achieve much more......again though money is the evil....brooking,devonshire and many others were top notch in their day and stayed true to the club....that little shit lampard with all his family history with the club couldnt wait to walk up the road and fill his pockets.....theres very little pride or loyalty in the game these days, something i think both these 2 clubs want from their players. I think the geordies similar to down here demand a certain type of football and a certain passion from the players win or lose.......i wouldnt hold that against them...but that stuff money sure changes things.....all the best Edited September 4, 2008 by gnasher16
deputydog 68
keegan couldnt manage a sunday leauge team only jokin maybe he could but when the going got tough he would walk out thats all he is good for

gnasher16 30,598
Not since they made grounds all seater and the fickle footy fan appeared pal. Near 40 years i been plodding down there and never sat down yet....same as 90 % of others....that was always our strong point sticking 2 fingers up to what society wanted and sticking to our own traditions.....i know one thing,a foreign managers not going to go down well !
