Lewdan 17
Just been browsing through the latest BASC magazine, came across an article discribing the changes in the law as regards to carrying a knife in a public place some worrying points as far as us hunters are concerned, first of all how many of us have taken a knife ( WHICH IS NEEDED BY HUNTERS ) in our coat or trouser pocket and forgot to put it away when we pop into a shop or garage on the way home, Very unlikely to happen but if we were stopped at that time we would be guilty of breaking the law THE NEW LAW now states that your vehicle is classed as a public place so we can,t even legally leave our knives in the car What the sh#t are we supposed to do There again i suppose it will be to open to interpretation ANY VIEWS Quote Link to post
Fidgety 8
Is there a "good reason" clause in that? Quote Link to post

Guest oldskool
them f****n chav's strike again... there should be a cull on those b*****ds lol.... anywho, and to cut a long story short, i was out lampin a couple of weeks ago in the car and i met a cop car at a roundabout and they followed me out the road and pulled me over to ask what i was doin at that time of the mornin... when i told them i then had to go through the usual "step out of the car sir" routine and i was asked had i anything on me before i was patted down... i told them i had a hunting knife and it was pretty much ignored... they were two right decent kinda chaps and they told me they had to pull me over because i was wearing camo... the knife didnt seem to be an issue at all, even though it was pretty big... i think the legal length of blade used to be no more than 3 1/2 inches or so?? is that still the case?? Lewdan 17
quote from BASC magazine: leaving a knife in the car or in your pocket for when you next go shooting , or forgetting that it is there , is NOT a defence.. When you carry a knife i must be directly in connection with the activity it is needed for. Exemptions are for folding pocket knives , These must have cutting edges of less than 3" and blades which DO NOT lock still a bit iffy on a lighter note you Scots guys should be ok , if you go hunting in national dress you can have a SKEAN DHU,no probs PS This relates to any sharply pointed or bladed instrument in your possession, in a public place, without good reason or lawful authority... Country Life 0
why pull you because your in camo its fasion naw adays Because they can. I was stoped once, When asked why, he said "You were driving erreticly" ,I asked, "Could you would define erratic, so I could put it right". "No" he said, "juast erratic".. HMMM you cant fix it if you dont know what it is. He then showed me a breathaliser (passed as I dont drink) it pays not to ask, just to do as they ask...or they will try another angle on you...
