Rolfe 2
http://www.thisiswesternmorningnews.co.uk/...il/article.html For anyone who can't be bothered to look at the link, a little girl was drowning off the Devon coast, caught in a rip tide and dragged out. Swimmers tried to rescue her and couldn't. The local lifeboat was suspended from service due to health and safety reasons, another was launched from six miles away, ETA 25-30 minutes. It was deemed too long to leave the child so the local crew took their boat and rescued her. They are now waiting to find out whether or not they are to face disciplinery charges. Absolutely incredible. Remember the policeman who wouldn't go into that lake to save a kid from drowning until he had "back up" as it was against proceedure? mmmm....who would you rather have on your team? For those of us who are old enough to remember the "Penlee Lifeboat Disaster" and the sinking of the Solomon Browne, it is an absolute disgrace that those guys should have to face disciplinary action for trying to save lives. These guys risk their lives for us........and as in the Penlee incident........often GIVE their lives trying to help others. Last year whilst on holiday in Cornwall i made a point of visiting the old lifeboat station just outside Mousehole and laid some flowers in remembrance of these brave men.......And that's from someone who lives as far from the sea as you can get.
