Rolfe 2
Been picking plenty of field mushrooms already.........but Puff Balls thickly sliced and fried in bacon fat are superb.
Guest foxyjo.
I didn't even know you could eat puff balls?!! Mushrooms always scare me a bit...always worried I'll poison everyone with some killer toadstool! A friend cooked a "chicken in the woods" for me one day. Don't ask me what it's proper name is! It was absolutely stunning. Now I'm thinking of bacon and mushrooms and a proper breakfast......DAMN YOU TRAPPA!!!! DAMN YOU ROLFE!!!!!
trappa 518
Hey foxyjo, chicken of.... is a really tasty fungi, and really easy to recognise too. I like to think of my self as a bit of a mycophile but havent got the balls to taste most of the stuff. They all seem to have one thats very similar but poisonous. Maybe one day i'll be brave enough to try them all but until then i will stick to the ones i know. Horn of plenty is a really tasty one, as are penny buns.

Guest foxyjo.
I know exactly what you mean Trappa!! That's what always scares me off!!! Funny thing is, if someone else picks it, and says it's ok, I'll eat it without a thought! Just don't trust myself!!
