Guest JohnGalway
How do all, Elsewhere I've been asked about the performance of HMR on foxes, more precisely this person wants to know does HMR cause fur damage? Since I'm not concerned with fur damage here I don't know but I said I'd ask others for him. So, for those of you who have shot foxes with HMR, how does the round affect the fur? Please specify hollow point or ballistic tipped rounds and any damage seen Thanks very much! John Quote Link to post
SportingShooter 0
In my experience, having shot a few foxes with my HMR using Winchester Supreme Ballistic Tips, there is no considerable fur damage on the animal. The bullets is so small that the entry wound is incredibly hard to find and the bullet will not exit the other side. (With Ballistic Tips). I have only shot one fox in the chest cavity with my HMR, the rest have all been headshots, between the eye and the ear. The range that the Chest fox was shot was 60 yards, the others range from 40 to 90 yards. If your friend is trying to keep the fur in good order, would Head shots not be a better choice? Unless he keeps the masks of course. Regards SS Quote Link to post
brno17 5
same as SS said the ones ive shot with the hmr never have an exit wound with ballistic tips just a load of internal damage, never find the entry until the skin comes off. alan. Quote Link to post
SNAP SHOT 194
the Hmr entry point is extremely hard to find unless you stand on the carcass to see the blood exit the wound, the bullet will not exit unless shot at a very close distance.... Quote Link to post
