Guest Corkonian
It was only a matter of time but I didn't think it would be this soon but the following langer has put forward a private members bill to ban hunting in Ireland: Alderman Tony Gregory, T.D. (Ind) Dáil Eireann, Dublin 2. Tel: 01-6183488 / 087-8126348 Fax: 01-6184195 tony.gregory@oireachtas.irlgov.ie He was on the radio already this evening and as usual the guy they had representing hunting was fairly week. This is serious - I don't need to tell the UK lads! I've text him already but no reply If someone would post this to smoochers for any of the Irish lads not on here that would be great
bolio 51
Yes Corkonian, they've been rabbitting on about hunting up here in Northern Ireland too. The local bbc appears to have begun a campaign of sorts to raise the profile of hunting, with a clandestine piece of film of a local stag hunt and several discussions on bbc radio Ulster timed to coincide with the ban coming in on the mainland. What ever became of the principal of freedom of choice? When an activity is banned EVERYONE loses that freedom, not just those who do it.

Guest Corkonian
Bolio: twould be hard to imagine a full ban here in the south to be honest but I'd hate to see them chipping away bit by bit - badgers and otters are already officially protected obviously and the hounds have to be muzzled coursing - but you must remember that this happened in the relatively recent past here. So the anti's ARE active here and they are getting their own way from time to time. They're sure to go after the Ward Union next.
Guest Dillon
And ya know half the reason Corkonian , its the Antis from other countries moving to Ireland and interfering with your lives and now kids being brought up in your schools to think hunting is wrong, as you know I've been hunting over there for about ten years now and always stay with the same people, the locals still call us the english c**ts but more in banter now as when we first met, I have made a lot of friends there and a good number of them non hunting people, I'd say a massive percentage of the non hunting public in Ireland have never had a problem with hunting or sports associated with it in the past but now its a different matter , Europe has helped to f**k your country in a big way it is moving forward at a dreadful pace and with it brings immigrants in there thousands, how many coons chinks wops and spoons do you see there now hundreds and I mean f****n hundreds, it never used to be like that. I tell ye one thing you want to start the fight now on a big scale just like we did in England except don't do what we did and close the gate after the horse has bolted. Antis are like Cancer they never really go away and your right they will chip away and chip away until they get there own f****n way, your government is as bent as ours and as soon as the lacs start with their money bribes and the cancer starts to spread your on the rocky road. I will fight and fight and fight the Irish cause as much as I did the English, it aint gonna stop ya I'm sure, I know your not one of the pretenders its in your blood, like it aint gonna stop me. All the best mate. Dillon Ive e-mailed him by the way will let ya know his replies if he does, I aint told him where I'm from just the basics of him being totally misguided
Guest Corkonian
With the current state of affairs here I couldn't see any bans ocurring - the Ward Union are the only ones really under fire - for hunting carted stag - but there's a lot of money in the club and whether rightly or wrongly there's a lot of political clout goes with it. We do have a lot of foreigners in places but to be honest it's the white EU settlers that give us the only trouble - West Cork for example has many of the local councils heading for Dutch and English majority. It's the only place that we get serious anti hassle when hunting - they call the police, rangers, fisheries officers etc. The police in fairness always support us 100% What will turn the tide in the antis favour is when we'll get much more English over here hunting (the horsey set especially) - as you say Dillon there's still a strong semi-joking anti-English feeling and the antis will surely play on that. The dreaded Brits killing our wildlife We've had it already years ago with a club I hunt with - there was a letter in the paper about how most of the followers we had out were English - didn't go down well at all - I wouldn't mind but the one that wrote it was English herself
Guest Dillon
I didnt mean the immigrants were causing the trouble it will most certainly be the English settlers that interfere with your countrysports.
