New permission

Recommended Posts

I remember it as if it was only today...

I had sold a new Land Rover to a local farmer. When he came to buy it, I found out that he owned a large farm - loaded with rabbits, hare and deer, which I used to 'walk the dogs on'  . Anyway, during the course of our negotiations about the price of his new car, I mentioned that if I did him a good deal, he had to give me permission to work my dogs on his land. This was shrugged off with a laugh by the farmer.

Anyway, he came in with is wife to pick up his car on a Friday - a nice sunny day, not unlike today (which is what got me reminiscing about it ;) ) Our company policy is to give a bunch of flowers with each new car. When I gave her the flowers, he shakes my hand, says "Thanks, son. You're a true gentleman. Anytime you want to come onto the farm - just you bring your dogs and go anywhere you want, hunt whatever you want" :yahoo::yahoo::yahoo::yahoo:

Shame it was before the ***. Now I can only do a bit of rabbiting and have to leave the long ears and bambi alone :(

Gotta be honest. I never used to have much luck before - got a few bits here'n'there - but since starting the LR job, I've gained a couple o good spots. I reckon it's down to being able to have a bit o a craic with them (sometimes on frequent visits to the service department - they do own land rovers after all  :D ) and let them see you're a good guy, who just wants a chance to work your dogs/ ferrets/ shoot responsibly and help them with a pest control problem.
