Guest Name Posted August 2, 2008 Report Share Posted August 2, 2008 Me and dixyhmr called in on a shooting job we done a few months back, its an old couples (garden) that is surrounded by farm land, both sides and rear When we were last there we accounted for sixteen rabbits and four crows all fell victims to the air riffles, not bad going when you think its a garden and not a field! Anyway we only stayed an hour tonight, sat for a while with the air guns but no joy, so we changed tactics, shotgun and ferret! In the far corner of this (garden) the man's gardener dumps the grass he cuts and other garden rubbish into a pile, compost i suppose the bunnies have actually made a sett in there, so we popped in a ferret sat back and waited, shot guns are all new to me but i had fun first one bounced straight out and made a run for the far side, dixy had it stopped after a few steps, (lone ranger he thinks) next one bolts..... i shot... and miss then we had the discussion about him giving me empty cartridges, they weren't of course, just i cant shoot got the ferret and boxed her up after all was clear, then the old man came across to show us that he found a new piece of garden that they started digging out last week, had a look and it was another earth not just scrats/digs, so ferret back in and i actually shot the first bolter 1/1 as i was still in shock of hitting something a bang went off, before i realised i nearly shat my self dixy was holding up his second kill! (b*****d!) ferret still in doing her stuff i was talking to my self "next ones mine" out it came, missed again dixy seen it and made the tally 2/1 to him! we got the ferret back and boxed her up, as we went to leave i spotted a rabbit coming into the garden from the far side, i knelt down trying to look like i knew what i was doing GET IN THERE SON! i fecking hit it dont matter if it was luck, in my eyes i hit it so its my shot! me with mine Quote Link to post

You'll get better don't you worry, soon as your paperwork comes through you will have the excuse to buy a gun and start practicing. We all miss and we all missed when we were learning to shoot, its all part of the curve. Is that a .410 or 12 Hushpower? Well, all parties seemed to be pleased and the people you were shooting for.
