is my dog to small?

Recommended Posts

I have a year old JRT bitch who is about 10 1/2 inches and weighs 10-11 pounds, now hypothetically speaking if fox hunting was legal would she be considered too lightweight to go to ground? she is a familly pet and if anything serious happened to her the missus wouldnt let me cross the front door again, so wouldnt want to risk that but just out of curiosity, when is a dog too small? hypothetically speaking of course!

If its a family dog, and your missus will kill ya if any harms comes to it I personally wouldnt bother entering it. Get yourself a shotgun or running dog and do a bit of bush work with it, few scratches wont hurt. Bit of ratting is always good, although my patt got bit last week and the better half wasnt too impressed :realmad:

'Couldnt stop him love, you know what hes like

I don't think shes too small, its like asking if a 20lb plus & 14" high Patterdale is too big, horses for courses JRTs are reknowned bayers, if you want a dog who will mix things try Fells or Patts. Personally i'd rather go out with a dog whos sensible & holds its quarry at bay whilst we dig down to it or the dog bolts its quarry, better than having a dog laid up for a few weeks because it was too hard or braindead.

I have a 10" JRT bitch called Gemma, shes nearly 6 years old, shes only 9lb weight but shes one hell of a nasty piece of work on quarry & can turn on a pin, takes her ages to calm down after been worked.

wow lol if you think thats shitty ...hope i don't shock you in future...i don't know what others are thinking, meant!! but I, plus anyone else who reads it knows what you've written "now hypothetically speaking if fox hunting was legal" this statement is misleading, and inferring that others who post on this and other sites about hunting fox are knowingly breaking the law, which they are not... JUST POINTING IT OUT....have a nice day lol
