Guest buster321c
Few days back i had a call to sort out a few pigeons that were being a pain in the arse . Anyway i got to the place , setup and waited . Now i use the AAS400 quite often, and its generally pretty good at keeping zero , but as i took a shot at a magpie 25yds away , the pellet was clear by miles !! I put it down to `me` and ignored it , waited and about 20 minutes later took another shot at a woodie on a branch 20 - 25 yds .The bloody pellet went inch and a half right and a bit high . Cursing myself for not checking the zero i decided to check it out and zero it . I put a mark on a fence pannel paced out 35 yds and started , first one 2 inch plus (and a bit ) to the right , ( i thought the missus has moved this and dropped it ) few clicks later it was comming better . Went to 20 yds , great , smack on ! , back to 35 , smack on . The turrets on the JSR 4-16X44 are the type with a little allen key that lock the windage adjuster down to stop it moving , undo the key and it spring up and you adjust it So there`s me pleased with myself for zeroing it ( but annoyed for not checking ) decided to leave and go home . Went back last night within 20 minutes i got a woodie, close, ( about 15 yds ) and thought i the mutts nuts LOL . Spyed a woodie 30 yds , missed by a mile , took aim at my mark on the fence , bloody 2 inch out went home abit miffed . Today ive had a real good look at the scope, and it seems that the windage is moving even though i thought it was locked down , so every touch , brush in the case , moves it . I decide to take some action and get the bits off and see if there was anything obvious i could sort myself and get it to lock down again . After close inspection i could`nt se any reason for the problems ive been having, so i zeroed it, and as i tightend up the allen key the b*****d sheered off Now i do have the qualitys of a fairy elephant , but i can assure everyone it was very thin where the hole for the key meets the head . So its gone into the gun shop for repair , ( if they can do it ??? ) the bloke is not in till wednesday, who will do it , so its fingers crossed he can do it , and not charge £30 for the privilage !!!! Now the scope i can replace as i think they are only £65 new ( if it needs it ) but i can still use it without the little screw aslong as the spring keeps the turret high , off the adjuster !! But at the minute i dont know what the outcome will be so if anyof you know where i can get a similar scope cheap-ish , ide appreciate knowing just in case , cheers guys. Feck it!! Quote Link to post

martin1 0
buster my friend you need a simmons wtc, there best budget buy mate, never had a problem with them and limited life time waranty to original purchaser but you wil never need to use the waranty i assure you. i have a 3.5-10x50 in the box bran new i bought the other week but happened to stumble past the 6.5-20x50 version so have no need for it,you can have it £100, i also have hawke side winders i want rid of which i would let you have for £-90ish. sorry to come over as a trying to sell you some thing as that is not my intention, just guiding you to a decent scope that will last you a life time and out perform scopes tripple its price tag. if the guy at the shop cant fix it get a dremmel and grind it so a flat head will fit. been where you are now and wasted a lot of money, bought good built scopes with crap glass, bought good scopes that dont hold zero, bought scopes that brake and i found the wtc+aetec, not had to worry since and i have read other peoples views who have owned them for over 10 years, put them on big centre fires and never lost zero or broke. sorry to go on but spend on a good scope and you will save in the long run as you wont waste money on other scopes. jsr clever, once you mount the scope you cant return it? see you around mate and hope you sort it Edited July 21, 2008 by martin1 Quote Link to post
